The original remote on my parents' Sony TV conked out, and they were looking for one that was simple to use with largish buttons. This one is great. It's small, with easy-to read buttons, and doesn't have any extraneous bells and whistles. The Sony programming code was right in the included instructions, it took 15 seconds to program, and they were off to the races. It has the necessary 'mute' and 'back' buttons, too.
Downsides: There is no way to select a different input (like for a DVD player). But they have to get up to mess with the DVD anyway, so they just push the button on the TV. There also isn't a 'menu' button, but they rarely, if ever, mess with the menu settings.
So for a simple, no frills remote, this one is great!

Bought this for a stroke victim with limited mobility in his hand and it works great for him. The buttons are larger and that is a great help. Only works on 2 devices which is perfect for the TV & Direct Tv - sometimes simple is better. In the past we have purchased Sony remotes that do not work with the Dish system, we did not try this one on Dish, just Directv. One other note - the product description is incorrect - the remote is NOT 11" long - they must have measured the packaging. So if you are looking for one of those very large remotes, this is not it. This one is about 5 - 6" long, but good button size for those that need that feature.Customer Review: Large button remote control

My 90 year old mother's eyes do not see as well as they used to and her fingers can not manipulate smaller remotes. Although this remote is not exceptionally large, the buttons are larger and clearer than the standard remote. We needed one that could turn on her t.v. and digital box as well as change channels. She did not want anything complicated. This remote did the trick. It was a bit tricky setting it up with her t.v. and digital converter but a phone call to Sony (on a Sunday noless)quickly produced a response and help in setting this to work with her t.v. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a simple, easy to manipulate remote.Customer Review: JUST what I neded

The remote on my old Sony Trinitron was shot.
Even when it was working it had too many options for me. I kept hitting the wrong buttons
This set up in seconds and is perfect just to simply Ch Up and Down or punch in a channel. Of click INPUT to watch movies on computer.

So I have a perfectly good television in front of the treadmill. Problem is that the remote stopped working. The TV is 18 years old afterall. So I bought this to replace the remote. I looked up the code for the TV on the included paperwork. The first match worked for my TV and now I have a working remote again. Works as advertised.
