Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PlayStation 3 120GB SystemCustomer Review: Works Great in Iraq... Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this system because I was deployed to Iraq again... I figured no need to bring out my classic 60GB PS3 out here to this desert... When it arrived it was packaged neatly and no problems to the outside of the box, shipping overseas to us is notorious for being rough on the handling.
But enough of that here is my point:
* I bought this model because it was cheap and wanted a PS3 in Iraq, it works with the 220V system they got over here and it NEVER over heats on me. Temperatures here have reached over 130 degrees sometimes, and my PS3 never seems to have a problem. It's even used when I am working by my other buddies who are off work, and it still does not over heat.
* Nice and quiet and plays my games and Iraqi DVD's real well.
* No chance to go online and try any of the web capabilities this system offers but so far it has been able to well handle the dirt/dust and heat over here real well.
Like I said this is my 2nd PS3 system and BOTH of them have worked great for me. I use compressed air on them at least 1x week and that is as much maintenance as I do for these things. It works great and it is a real tough little piece of equipment. When people say this is cheap and poorly made I beg to differ. It handles the dirt, dust and HEAT from Iraq and everyone in my platoon enjoys playing it. It is a great system for a good price, I am actually thinking of keeping it when I go back to the States. I highly recommend this, and so does America !!! ha ha JK, but it really is a great system...

Customer Review: It Does Everything but Backwards Compatibility Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased my PS3 about 2 weeks ago and after getting some games and taking advantage of all it has to offer. Listed some that I enjoyed and were relevent for me as someone who enjoys playing games casually with friends and the once and awhile movie (not a full list of features):
-built in Wi-Fi so no wires to get on internet (simple set up)
-rechargable wireless controller with cable (with decent battery life)
-DVD and BluRay Player (not main reason to buy but was nice add-on)
-Playstation Network (great for downloading demos and buying PS1 games to download)
-Hard Drive 120GB built in (installed a few PS1 games and alot of PS3 demos)
There are probably more but these features pop out to me the most when I enjoy my PS3. Having free access to the playstation network is appreciated and the $299 price point for slim is what made me finally decided to buy one.
I am disappointed with the lack of backwards compatibility in the PS3 Slim for PS1 and PS2 games since I do own some PS2 games and can't just rely on one console to enjoy all PS games. Their commercial always pours salt in that small missing element in the console. I don't think past PS owners need it but it would have made the decision to buy the PS3 faster and easyer.
I am happy with my console in the end and highly recommend it for any past PS owners still unsure of the console or just anyone looking for a gaming console that offers alot of fun with great game exclusives behind it. (for me it was Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted 1 and 2)
Customer Review: The best console, and soon to be fully 3D BluRay capable Summary: 5 Stars
It's real simple folks. The PS3 is hands down the best console on the market. It has a remarkably simple setup, very elegant in it's hardware/software design and has shimmering 1080p graphics at a liquid 60fps.
The wireless network is built in, and takes seconds to set up and get online. The Playstation Network (PSN) is free to use for access to the PSN store and various other features. My wife and I have already rented a couple of movies from the PSN, and purchased a few smaller games via the network. The PS3 is also Netflix ready for instant streaming of movies and TV shows.
I also use my Windows7 machine as a media server, so I can pull pictures/music/videos directly to our HDTV. How convenient!! Yes, this box really "ONLY DOES EVERYTHING!"
And keep this in mind.. the PS3 contains a BluRay player that will be fully capable of 3D 1080p games Summer 2010, and 3D 1080p movies Fall 2010 via a free firmware upgrade. Note that in order to play digital 3D games/movies, you will need to have the PS3 connected via HDMI to one of the new Sony 3D HDTV's coming out Summer 2010. The PS3 is a true specced out 3D BluRay device, and in fact is Sony's BluRay 3D standard.
Also, look carefully at the game selection for the PS3 as well, and you'll see that the PS3 has the finest selection of top shelf games available on any console. I'd recommend "UNCHARTED 1 and UNCHARTED 2" as showcase games for the PS3.
The PS3 is a FIVE STAR console. *****
Recommended purchase for those in the market.
Customer Review: Best System on the Market Summary: 5 Stars
I already owned a original 60GB model that had PS2 backward compatibility. I was planning on getting another BD player for my bedroom. I was considering the new Samsung players when this was announced. It's cheaper and it plays games plus it has a HDD. It was a no-brainer for me. The PlayStation 3 is far and away the best console or for that matter Blu-Ray player you can currently get for its price range. There are many advantages to the 360 and the Samsung BD players, however if I had to have one without the others, my honest and objective recommendation is the new PS3.
Like I've said it's a great bargain for a great system, but it is not without its shortcomings.
-No PS2 Backward compatibility. (important to me but not everyone)
-No Netflix (360 has Netflix and so do the Samsung BD players) (also, important to me but not everyone)
-Backup Utility is awkward (nobody uses FAT32 format anymore and it's actually a process to even format a HDD that way) (You can do it with Swissknife though)
-Online play isn't as good as 360's(but it IS free and is being improved even as I type this...)
-No mic jack on controller (Bluetooth Headsets are not as easy, so people don't bother. The result is a lot less people are not talking in multi player games. A plus side to this is that you don't have to listen to a bunch of 13 year olds screaming the N-word and insulting your mom).
I hope I didn't complain too much about the system it really is a great machine and the best deal out there.
Customer Review: Best Wife Ever Summary: 5 Stars
My wife bless her heart bought me a wii over a year ago because she thought it would be fun for everyone instead of just fun for me. While she was right I had this gaming itch the wii just didnt scratch. With the fail rates of the x-box and the cost of the ps3 I was stuck playing resident evil and other games on the wii that probably would be best left to a more appropriate console. After getting shafted last christmas and not benig able to find wii fit anywhere (shame on you nintendo) I was sure to make clear to my wife that the slim just came out, that it was less expensive, and that I really, really, really, wanted one for christmas. To avoid any holiday rush I encouraged her to get one while she could. Well lo and behold she suprised me with the PS3 slim the day it came out which she preordered when I told her about it. Did I say my wife rocks. AMAZING, I was a bit dissapointed that it wasnt bundled with some sort of game (and my wife was shocked) but you can download a ton of demos. I didnt learn that it had built in wireless untill I had pirated an ethernet cable from our tivo, which is another big plus. I like the fact that you dont have to buy online access like the x-box. Anyway Im pumped, we'll be getting a hidef tv primarially for this and the bluray player. It looks great, functions great, and the best thing about being a late adopter is that thare is a ton of content being sold used. Metal Gear solid 4 (never palyed it), the newest grand theft auto (definitly not on the wii). I can pick them up and other sweet games for under 20 smackers. A
