Customer Review: Great Memory Card Summary: 5 Stars
I don't care what anyone else says, Sony makes the best memory cards. A lot of people complain because when they buy a Sony product they find out that they can only use a Sony memory card... I honestly don't think that their complaints are founded on the quality of the memory card; their complaints are more like a knee-jerk reaction to feeling like they're being forced to buy a certain brand. My question is, why does that bother you? You clearly like Sony, or else you wouldn't have bought the original product. And yes, Sony memory cards are sometimes a bit more than others (they are getting better about that though) - but it's also a name brand, those are always going to be higher, no matter which name brand it is, plus the Sony cards are of altogether better value and quality than a lot of others. Of course there are a lot of great, cheap memory cards out there, but honestly even if I could use one of them in my Sony products, I wouldn't - I would only use Sony in my Sony product... maybe it's just me, but I dance with the guy I came with (in other words, I stick with the brand I bought).
This is a great little memory card; I actually just gave mine away (to my mom) for her new sony cybershot. I upgraded to a 4gb in mine (which I also love). I needed to upgrade because I take a lot of pictures at their highest setting and I needed more room. However, the 1gb did take a tremendous amount of pictures too.
Customer Review: Excellent for everything you want to do with your PSP... Summary: 5 Stars
If you want to be able to have a large amount of data stored on your PSP, not just save games and images, but videos and loads of mp3s, then this is the route you will want to go.
The stick comes with 945mb of freespace, if anyone knows how computer memory works, this would make sense, so don't blame Sony for stealing your last 55mb. With this memory stick you can save a couple of movies and replay them on the PSP, generally encode your movies to around 300-350mb for a hour and a half movie. And all extra space I have used for MP3s which is great as you odn't need to carry your Ipod or Personal DVD player with you anymore, and you have the games to boot.
No problems at all witht this memory card, was worried about the San Disk option, which I would have probably done if the price was that much different, but for $5, it wasn't worth the risk.
Customer Review: Most Excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
The Sony 1 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo is an awesome way to take full advantage of your PSP's capabilities. You can really jam pile stuff on your PSP with this. I have 180 songs and a movie, full length, with still 149 MB to spare. Impressive, huh? I bought mine for $68 at WalMart, which was an amazing deal. Around Christmas time of '05 I found and bought a 512 MB Sandisk Pro Duo Memory Stick for, get this, $80. ( In case you didn't know, 512 MB is half of 1 GB. ) I feel so ripped off now, then again, I bought it at Best Buy, and Best Buy certainly doesn't have the best buys. Anyway, this is actually very cheap for a 1 Gigabite. I'm pretty sure about a year ago they were about $100 each, but I guess there was a huge price drop. Buy this! Not to mention it has an adapter that you insert the Stick in to even record movies from your camera; cool!
9.7/10
Customer Review: Perfect for the PSP Summary: 5 Stars
I decided to purchase this unit over the SanDisk, due to the large number of complaints about it suddenly not working. There are many arguments FOR the SanDisk, as it appears to be faster. However, most people shopping fail to take into account the use of the device. This is not going to be used to store hi-res large file images taken from a digitial camera. The write spead is irrelevant! The small file size of the PSP game saves will exhibit no difference. Transferring a 100MB plus file over USB will offer only negligible speed differences.
So, if you want speed that makes no difference go for the SanDisk. If you want reliability, go for the Sony.
I've had no issues with this card and feel I made the right choice. Only reason I gave it 4 stars, is because these suckers are expensive!
