Purchased this monitor to hear my elderly mother in the garage apartment behind me. About two years ago, I bought the one with one receiver and the battery is just now having trouble holding a charge. I would have to take the receiver upstairs when I went to be at night so I decided instead of buying a new battery I would get a new unit with two receivers, one downstairs, one up. I bought a couple of different types at Walmart and the sound quality was awful. All muffled. But this Sony unit is awesome. The sounds are crystal clear. I have the monitor in Mom's bedroom and can hear every noise in her entire 800 sq ft apartment.I can hear if she leaves the water running in the bathroom sink. I can even hear the clock ticking in the kitchen. The apartment is concrete block and my house is frame. The monitor and receivers are approx. 100 feet apart. The only problem I have is I sometimes pick up phone conversations up to a block away but changing the frequency always helps. I highly recommend this "nursery" monitor. We bought these monitors from Amazon when I was pregnant with our now 11 month old son and to this day have NO complaints or issues with the product. They have many different channels, which our old model did not (resulting in static and overheard conversations from our neighborhood!), are so sensitive we can hear him breathe, and have a nice battery saving feature which only turns on when it hears noise (even sighs in our baby's sleep!). We have receiver in our bedroom plugged into the outlet and have the other battery powered to move around our house and outside. The range indicator is an excellent feature and we have coverage everywhere we need it. I truely cannot find a thing about these monitors that we don't care for.
As per any monitor, if you put a cell phone or cordless phone next to the monitor, you do get a little feedback but if you move it a foot away, the noise stops.

We got this baby monitor for our first child and I didn't realize how fantastic it was until I started shopping for a dual monitor once we had our second child. The absolute best feature about this monitor is the ability to choose voice activation mode. This means that the receiver doesn't come on until the baby makes a noise. This was absolutely essential for us because we use a white noise machine in the baby's room and without the voice activation, we'd hear the constant whooshing of the noise machine. Now it only comes on once it picks up additional noise in the room. Wonderful!
Now if only Sony would make a model that monitors two different rooms at the same time, I'd be happy. We bought another brand for the second child, and that one doesn't have voice activation, so we're going crazy with the noise.

This monitor is great.
- Have owned for 3 years so far
- The static on it is so non-existent that sometimes I think I forgot to turn it on.
- Every once in a while it will do a loud static blurp and scare the bajeebers out of me, but it happens so rarely that it's barely even noteworthy.
- The sound quality coming from the baby's room is so clear that it sounds like the baby is right there.
- I noticed that some of the reviews said it doesn't have a long range. I've never tried taking it outside or on a stroll around the neighborhood ;), but we do live in a 2900 sq. foot house and have never had a problem.
- It's made of good quality too (doesn't feel all cheap like our other one!). I've dropped it several times on our tile and it didn't affect it.

After owning a defective more expensive monitor, I was skeptical about this one. The reviews were a bit mixed and had me worried about interference and the range alarm going off. We have had this for 2 months now and use it mutiple times every day. It works great! I especially like the convenience of having 2 receivers, with a multi-level home, this is a must! And the long range is amazing! We were even able to hear our baby whimper in her crib from our neighbor's, 3 houses away! I have often walked right outside her door while holding a receiver and the alarm has never gone off. And I have had no interference with this either; it is often sitting right next to my cell phone and right below our microwave with no problems. Great monitor, don't hesitate on buying this one!
