I've bought and returned several monitors, and this one has been the best hands down. The rechargeable NiMH batteries (like cordless home phones) last much longer than the rechargeable alkalines other units have. The talk mode is great so we don't have to listen to white noise. The monitor detects noise and transmits the sound to the receivers and auto shuts off when the noise stops...and it works well. It also has the always on mode if you prefer. Best monitor under $100 out there. The physical design of the unit is not that attractive, but I want something that works well and is reliable, not what looks great.Customer Review: Love this monitor!

I purchased this monitor over a month ago and love it. I work for a ski school and our building is very tall, 4 floors to be exact. THe room my little guy sleeps in is on the top floor (4th) and I usually am working on the 2nd floor. There is usually no static and I can hear when he starts to wake. I even take the monitor to the 1st level and it does fine for the most part. At time I will get the out of range warning but usually I just have to re-position the receiver and it goes away. I would recommend this monitor to anyone who wants a high powered monitor.Customer Review: Picks up everything!

I got this because the fisher price monitor I'd gotten had a LOT of static that was loud, and I didn't want to try to sleep through that. The first evening I had it on, there was only a tiny bit of static, and I found I could turn it down to practically none and still hear my baby... and evidently the neighbors dog who was barking, the monitor picked that up as well. I slept well that night knowing I'd hear anything that went on. This morning I went in before she fussed or anything because I heard her kicking her legs.Customer Review: Perfect for new parents

We have had these monitors for a month now, and they are great. We have had no interference, and we live in a townhouse. I picked a channel and haven't had to change it since. The monitor works on all three levels of my house. It picks up every sound when it is switched to "on". The "voice activation" mode will only pick up cries or other voices. The battery life is excellent on the receivers, I have only charged them once since the initial charge (not used everyday though). I love this monitor. I have not had any static or reception issues. I see that other people have had problems, so your mileage may vary but we think they're fantastic. Very sensitive. My only problem is that sometimes the speaker doesn't turn on on one of our receivers so I make sure to test them when I turn them on. I can get the speaker on by unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. I'm sure Sony would replace it but it hasn't annoyed me enough to bother; it only happens once a month or so.
