Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony BDP-N460 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black)Customer Review: Awesome BD player Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is awesome. I've become so enamored with its online capabilities I've yet to even buy a blu-ray disc. You can stream Netflix, Amazon on-demand, YouTube, [...] and so much more. If they would just add Hulu I wouldn't even need a DVR anymore! You can even stream NPR and listen to tons of podcasts.
My only complaint is not with the player but Netflix. Their online library SUCKS. The good news is you can get everything you'd ever want, even new releases, from Amazon on-demand for $3 in SD and $4 in HD. I'm going to drop Netflix in favor of Amazon's pay-by-the-movie service.
A couple other suggestions. Although I have never tried the wireless setup because I already had an ethernet jack nearby, I would still suggest wired over wireless. I think you'll get better quality and have more consistent performance when viewing streamed content. Also, get yourself a 4-8GB USB flash drive and plug it into the back of this unit. It doesn't come with any onboard memory, but adding a flash drive will allow it to buffer and stream better. It also is supposed to give you better access to online BD content, but I have not tried that yet.
Customer Review: Awesome Player Summary: 5 Stars
This player is amazing, I first had a Olevia from Target that was on sale for under $100 for Xmas (2008) which was slow to boot and slow to read. The Sony is by FAR Superior then the previous player. Fast at everything boot-up is less then 10 seconds without the quick boot-up option, reads Blu ray shortly after inserted and load times are minimal. I had read several reviews about Netflix not being good quality and it being laggy and such which was turning me away from this player. But let me tell you the Netflix is Amazing, the quality is great, it doesn't take very long to load at all I have 6MBps from Comcast running through a router and a switch and still have no problem streaming or any quality loss. If you have Netflix this player is awesome. From Box to setup it took under 20 mins, It tells you when there is new firmware and DL it directly to the player and installs it in under 5 mins. For Netflix all you need to do is register product with Sony and then enter the Key it gives you into the Netflix site and your done. If your looking for a new Blu Ray or even a First time buyer, DO NOT pass this one up.

Linksys by Cisco WET610N Wireless-N Ethernet Bridge with Dual-Band
Linksys by Cisco WRT400N Dual-Band Wireless-N Router
Bought my first Blu-Ray player and it was an easy set-up. Connected wirelessly with the the WET610N to my WRT400N. It was a breeze!
I have not viewed any Blu-Ray content yet but just wanted to let folks know that for wireless SONY offers a lot of content to choose from and setting it up wirelessly is the way to go!
I considered the LG 390 but I read some critical reviews regarding the strength of the built in wireless. My signal is good and strong!
The remote does not power the disk door to open or close, you have to get up and do it manually. There is a work-a-round for those who have a Harmony remote, which is what I did and now I do not have to get up!
Customer Review: The Best Sony Blu Player Built. Summary: 5 Stars
Best Damn Blu Ray Player sony has built. IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER MODEL SONY BLU RAY PLAYER WITH AN EJECT BUTTON ON THE REMOTE, IT WILL WORK!! I have a Harmony 890 remote and the settings for the remote are for my older BDP-S350 and the eject button works. The only flaw this player has is (and I hope that they can correct it with a firmware) the Netflix steaming only allows you to view what you added to your instant queue. I have a $99 Insignia Blu Player for the bedroom and you can add movies right from the player. Go figure!! I get NO buffering what so ever watching SD or HD streaming. I've watched over 15 movies and no buffering, studdering, nothing, NADA!! Installation was a breeze and I was streaming within minutes. I pre-wired my house with Cat5 so I didn't need to go wireless. On Sony's future Models I would like to see built in memory added, wi-fi(for those who need it) and they could add an eject button on their next remote with maybe a backlit remote. This is my fith player and this one by far is the best.
Customer Review: Bought for Bluray but streaming HD movies are an eye opener Summary: 5 Stars
When we replaced our TV recently, I was happy to be able to get rid of a 11 year old DVD player and get a blu-ray. I picked this one in part because of its media streaming capabilities. After hooking up a long ethernet cable, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy setting it up on the network was and more impressed by all the choices - yes, I'd like still more, e.g. itunes or the network feeds, but nothing short of a PC will do all that so far. We don't have netflix, but satellite packages with movies and we rent for ones we want sooner. The first blu-ray looked great and noticeably better than ordinary DVD, but it is hard to tell a big difference in our set up between 1080p (Blu-ray) and 1080i HD. And we've rented a few films from Amazon a la cart and they worked without a hitch and looked just great in HD. That really increases the value and utility of a blu-ray/DVD player. Unless you have some other media bridge system in your set or otherwise, don't miss this really great addition.
