Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony BDP-S1 1080p Blu-ray Disc PlayerCustomer Review: Outstanding, easily the best player on the market Summary: 5 Stars
Don't let anyone kid you. Sony developed the technology and clearly makes the best transport and video D to A on the market. I use my Lexicon preamp as decoder and the Sony audio transport does an excellent job as well.
The negative reviews of this player were posted by people who never saw it. It didn't ship until early December and the prototype wasn't even available for audition until late November. So disregard all the bogus reviews.
Audio and video performance is outstanding.
Customer Review: A fine player...... Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this player about two weeks ago. It delivers an incredible picture. I watched the Last Samurai on blu ray and wow!!! If you can afford this player get it.
I also own the samsung blu ray player 1000. The real difference between the two is load time. The samsung loads a little bit quicker. Otherwise, the PQ is about the same. Toss a coin!
I think in short order everyone will come to discover that blu ray will win the HD wars.
Customer Review: The Japan model Summary: 5 Stars
FYI i live in japan the going price is around $2,900 it also has a 400gig hard drive and can record mulitple tv shows at the same time they dont have tivo here yet but there dvd players can record TV and Satellite at the same time. My wife likes to use her cell phone on the subway to start recording different shows. Pick one up if you have a 1080p TV it helps alot from the normal PSDVD players. I also recommend monster cables HDMI cable it about $100 but its a noticeable difference.
Customer Review: Best DVD player out there. Summary: 5 Stars
I have purchased numerous DVD players throughout the years and the Sony Blu Ray player is by far the best out there. It gives me the most clear HD picture far surpassing the old SD DVD players. It automatically determines what sort of DVD you have put into the machine, 480P and up and then plays it at the highest resolution available up to 1080P!! The Movie Studios are backing this machine and not the HD DVD players, and they have certainly made the right choice.
Customer Review: They will not make them like this again Summary: 5 Stars
Pictures do not do it justice. You will have to see Sony's BDP-S1 in the flesh to appreciate the fit and finish.Unfortunately when the market catches on, Blu Ray players will weigh about the same as an average laptop and feel flimsy.Just compare Toshiba's current Hd dvd players to their earlier models(HD-XA1 /HD-XA2)and you'll understand. In the meantime give yourself a treat;get one these before it's too late. And did I mention that the picture quality is excellent?
