Customer Review: Outstanding Picture and Sound

I have used my BDP-S1 for over two months with outstanding results. The picture quality on blu-ray disc such as Casino Royal, The Prestige and Deja Vu is outstanding. The player also upscales standard definition DVD's to 1080p, resulting in much improved video quality. While the BDP-S1 lacks the capability to play music CD's, the primary reason I purchased the player is for movie video and sound quality. If you are looking for an honest way to decide which player to buy, try this Go to Netflix and look at the number of Blu-ray movies that are available. You will have to click on the icon and open it to see what formats are available. It will tell you if it is available in DVD, Blu-ray, or HD-DVD. So far I have found 2 movies in HD that are not Blue-ray, and of the 50+ movies in my Que that are Blu-ray maybe 3 or 4 of them are also available in HD-DVD.Customer Review: fine perfomance

I have this player for over a month now and it has perfomed fine. One of course has to consider that this is a first generation blu-ray player and there is not a wide range of choice. It does take some time to load and unload but it is solid. I compared other brands before I bought this one and they all have the same characteristic.

The BDP-S1 was my first BLU-RAY player, and it is state of the art-superb picture and sound in High Definition. All the major Studios support BLU-RAY, if you want HD MOVIES from DISNEY, FOX, SONY(COLUMBIA),WARNERS,PARMOUNT then you must own a BLU-RAY. NO DISNEY, FOX, AND SONY MOVIES ARE AVAILABLE ON HD-dvd.Customer Review: Blu-Ray is the future

Blu-ray vs. HD DVD
A Blu-Ray disc is better technology. It is better resolution and can hold more information (1080p vs. HD DVD's 1080i. This has the support of more movie studios and more Manufacturers and will become the standard. If you want the A-track of the future buy HD-DVD.
