Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-ray PlayerCustomer Review: is blue ray worth it? Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a different blue ray player first but returned it because the
the picture wasn't what I thought it should be. The Sony550 is great.
The picture is fantastic with my Sony XBR6. I am still not convinced
that blue ray is worth the cost if you have a good dvd player. But for
300 bucks I am satisfied. If you are a fanatic go for it.
Customer Review: The best low cost BR avilable. Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this player for evaluation. Superb picture quality and most important for me, it internally decodes both DD TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio. This allows me to take advantage of the 7.1 Analog outs to a Receiver (actually a Pre/Pro) that does not have HDMI. I also own Sony's $2000 flagship Blu-ray player and IMO the S550 picture quality is the same.
Customer Review: I'm very impressed! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought the BDP-S550 on the recommendation of a friend. I love this thing; it does everything I need with easy to use controls & setup. I had it working in about 5 minutes because the setup is so intuitive. Super quality with blu-ray movies, home movies burned to DVDs from my Sony VRD-MC5, still pictures, and music. Definitely recommend!
Customer Review: Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I used Sony SR11 and recorded a personal video on both SD format and HD format(AVCHD blu ray). I burned the SD format video on a DVD and played it on a dvd player, it was fine, good quality. Then I burned the HD format on a DVD and played it on this BDP 550. It was great, beyond my expectations. Mark my words, ITS WORTH IT.
Customer Review: Excellent player Summary: 5 Stars
Upconverting of regular dvd's is excellent and old favorites are a delight to watch again. The latest movie watched was "What Dreams May Come", a movie that is rich in colors and panaromic views. It had that "WOW" effect on us.
Both the S350 and the S550 are excellent BD players.
PEACE
