Customer Review: Great sound from player!!

Currently upgraded my Panasonic bd10 for this model. Really, thought there would be no big difference, boy was I wrong. The picture looked a bit sharper and alot brighter, and its a dark movie. I watched Max Payne last night, and in the beginning there was a water scene. It felt so real. I felt as if I was in the water. One shoot'em up scene made me jump, because you don't know where its coming from. I have it up pretty loud, too.
People who say there is no difference between dts-hd, true hd versus regular sound. Really haven't heard the 2.

I researched the many Blu-Ray players before selecting this Sony player, the BDP-S550. For my money it is easy to operate, delivers beautiful definition and has most of the extras you would like to have for those occasional needs for options beyond the basics.
Sure there are players costing much more and promising all kinds of additional extras. I had to ask myself how often would I need many of the extra options which increase the price? I went for this player thinking the added costs would be more of a ego booster than everyday, practical use.

To me Sony products are the best in quality and price. This was given as a gift and the person who received it was very excited to receive an excellent product as this HD Player is. I, also own a Sony HD Blu-ray player, I would never consider purchasing any other brand. All my electronic devices HDTV are from Sony, this also includes Stereo, VHS Player, DVD Player, and combo. VHS/DVD Player. It is my belief that Sony makes the best products out on the market. The person who received this product, also owns many Sony products. I won't belabor the technical specs on this Blu Ray player. Amazon presents them far better than I could.
What I will say is that there is a noticeable difference just watching my old DVDs and listening to music CDs. The picture is sharper and the action is crisper. Plus, the sound is flawless.
Blu Ray presentations are comparable to what I've seen in the theatre. They are well worth the price difference. I questioned whether we should make the upgrade, but I am glad we did!

If you have a Sony HDTV (higher end preffered) then this is a perfect compliment to your HD home experience. Bravia Sync capability recognizes instantly other Sony products attached to your TV and can be controlled with one remote. Blu-Ray DVD's look awesome and it also plays and enhances regular DVD's making your viewing experience much better. The only minor thing is that it doesn't have wireless capability. Have to attach an ethernet cable to my router to update software versions. I'm sure that will be added on the next gen blu-ray players.
