Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony BDP-S570 3D Blu-ray Disc Player

Customer Review: Sony BDP 570
Summary: 5 Stars

Well just like many who check these reviews. I did the same. I researched Players in the $200.00 range for about 6 months. I finally decided on the Sony 570. I have had it now for a week. The kids and I have run Toy Story 3 through it now twice. This is my first Blu-ray player so I finally jumped up to True 1080p. Big difference over the upscaling Samsung I had. I am running the HDMI through a Pioneer Elite VSX-82TSX Receiver to a Sony SXRD Bravia 60" Projection @ 120Hz. Start up is quicker than my Samsung and older 1080i Sony DVD player that is now 4 years old. Running a Wireless G router and the download from Netflix on HD movies has been flawless. Thought I might have to go to a N router. Have watched 2 Netflix movies in HD with no problems. Previously ran Netflix through our Wii, it was slower with poor picture quality. The Wii is really dated with no HDMI. Set up was no problem. Just have a laptop near by to register your product. I set up the DVD Player from the wireless connection from the start. I would buy it again. Only wished that the remote was back lit. Might invest in some 3D glasses as more movies become ava. in 3D. Hopefully this Player will stay current enough to get me 2 years of use.

Customer Review: Only netflix device for families with children
Summary: 5 Stars

I looked at all other Netflix devices, such as Wii, TVs with Apps etc. All these device, once activated for netflix streaming, allowed the user to nagivate, browse, look at viewing history etc. As parents of young children, we don't want to have them stumble upon things that are not appropriate for them. We don't watch much TV at all, and same with out kids (in fact we don't have any cable or dish or any other programming). We used to get movies for the kids from the library for the weekends. Now, with Netflix, we can add the kids' movies to the instant queue and only those in the queue show-up in this Player. Perfect. They can't browse away and choose any other movie.

Lot of people might want full netflix capabilities in their devices, but as Parents, this was a big NO for us.

I'm suprised that the developers/manufactures of Netflix streaming devices don't provide a choice to the user, so that we can set it up the way we want. For example, given the choice, I would choose to have only the netflix queue show-up in this device, but I should be able to unlock it using a password to get all the netflix capabilities if needed. This seems to be a no-brainer solution, but no one seems to provide this.

Customer Review: This is a Fabulous BluRay Player
Summary: 5 Stars

This player works absolutely fantastic. I have the BDP-BX57 which is the same model as the BDP-S570 just renamed to sell at SamsClub etc. The bluray performance is second to none (of course) and the Dvd upconverting is also great. I have two other bluray players that are quite good but can't hold a candle to this Sony. The wireless streaming and home network connections work flawlessly. Netflix, Amazon, Pandora, Qriocity and all the other Apps stream perfectly. The non HD streaming video looks nearly HD. My home network works superbly. I can listen to my 5000 mp3s on my computer through this player and get great sound quality through the stereo system connected to my HDTV. Also I have DSL through Qwest at 7Mbps with an Actiontec 1000 modem. I have only one connection to my player which is the HDMI cable everything else is connected through my 2yr old Samsung 720p HDTV. Did I mention I also have a Roku XD/S that works great too but I think the streaming is better on the Sony BDP-BX57/S570. This player does have 3D capability but I can't comment on that since I don't have a 3D HDTV or 3D glasses. One more thing -- The price is dropping on this player. You better get one fast!!

Customer Review: Bought it for the wireless networking. Works great.
Summary: 5 Stars

I think I looked at every network blu-ray player available before pulling the trigger on this Sony model. It has every current feature, including wireless network access, which was very important to me. I wanted a player that would be the easiest to set up and play, period. Last year we got a large TV for my parents as a gift; it took 2 days and multiple trips to the store to complete the install. We really didn't want to go through that hassle again, especially at Christmas. This Sony player was easy to set up. It took maybe an hour from the time we broke open the box to the point where we were listening to Pandora Radio through our home theater speakers. We've watched only one Blu-Ray disc so far. There were no issues with the player having a loud fan/noise, as another reviewer mentioned. The picture was spectacular. One weekend we watched 3 movies in a row from Netflix streaming and the picture didn't stall or stutter. We have U-verse internet. We don't pay for the fastest speed. The only thing that's a drag, is that now we have one more remote to deal with. But that would be true about any player we chose. I keep a pretty wooden bowl on the end table with *5* remotes in it!

Customer Review: This is great!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I rarely review products, but was so impressed with this, I figured I would.

First, setup was a breeze. I have this player linked to two different systems, one via component video and old school red and white audio cables, the other via HDMI. It switches back and forth between these two systems without a hitch, correctly outputting the highest resolution for the connection without me having to do anything. I also was able to link to Netflix, Pandoro, Amazon VOD, and my router with no problem.

Second is the resolution. Blu-Ray always looks good, but I'm really amazed by how much better this makes DVD's look, almost as good as Blu-Ray.

Third, is the Netflix. I was worried by reviews that the streaming video is spotty with this unit. I had an old G-router, so I went out and got a new Linksys 2000 N router the same day I bought this, and the service is great! No lost connections or any difficulty at all. The video quality is also way better than I expected...which I am sure has a lot to do with the new router as well.

This unit is flawless so far, and I could not be happier.
