Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony BRAVIA W-Series KDL-52W4100 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTVCustomer Review: Great: Price/Performance/Delivery Summary: 5 Stars
After going nuts for months analyzing HD TV specs and comparing 52" sets in stores I bought a Philips 120hz model at Costo who do have a 90 day return policy as I was leery of buying something this big and fragile on-line with cross-country shipping.
Long story short, the Philips had a few issues, it was returned, and I "bit the bullet" and went with Amazon for the W4100. My considerations went by the way because the TV arrived in six days, was unboxed and put on a stand by the bare handed White Glove guys, and the set has run as advertised.
The sets I compared were the Samsung 650, the Philips, and the Sony 4100. 120hz was important consideration for sports and action movies, and I didn't want to spend over two grand. The Samsung's screen is nearly as reflective as most plasma sets, a deal breaker for my very bright room. The Philips was best for that but for its power-cycling, re-sizing, and sound issues.
Watch for Amazon deals on this TV. For the price of the warehouse store Philips, I got a TV that has more features, a marginally better picture (although a bit more reflective), and a Sony Blu-ray S350 and four movies thrown in! And this doesn't cover the included delivery and set-up.

Customer Review: Kudos to Amazon! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered the Sony KDL-52W4100 on a Monday. it was delivered Thursday afternoon - and I paid $0 shipping - as well as $0 sales tax - over a $200 savings combined. Amazon's price was the same as the big box retailers in my area. But, in addition to the sales tax issue, neither of the local outlets had the TV in stock. That meant waiting on shipment anyway - and they wanted to charge me a shipping/delivery fee.
As for quality, I buy Sony for a reason. This TV doesn't disappoint me at all. The picture is spectacular! I have it connected to a DirecTV HD receiver, but am currently only receiving my local channels in HD. The HD channels are brilliant - but even the non-HD satellite channels are incredible.
I found the TV easy to set up. The onscreen menus were easy to follow. I haven't begun to dig into the more advanced features - I'm still enjoying the amazing quality of Sony combined with HDTV. I bought this model mainly for the 120HZ Motionflow technology. I turned it on during setup - and haven't yet turned the feature off to compare the difference between 120HZ and 60HZ.
If you want quality, buy Sony. If you want to be amazed, buy the KDL-52W4100. If you want a good deal, buy from Amazon.
Customer Review: Just got this Tv 2-13-09 Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a 52" TV to complete a loft in my house. I did the usual go to Best Buy, check out the going out of business sale at Circut city. I found that I really liked the 52" Bravia 120hz tv. However, i didnt want to spend $2,500 plus tax on it. While at Circut City a gemtelmen told me to get the model number of a tv I liked and check out Amazon. I put the model number in and got the tv for $1,869. Majer M&J inc is who I bought it from. I revieved a confirmation e-mail including a tracking number. I ordered the tv on a Sunday morning and got it Friday afternoon. Make sure you give them a phone number since the driver calls you when he is near your address and needs you to sign for the tv. The TV is awsome. Hung it yesterday and it has an amazing picture. I already have a 60" Sony DLP and I thought its picture was really good, and it is, but this tv is much crisper and a treat to watch. I dont know if I would pay $2,500 plus tax for it, but at the price on Amazon, its a good buy. I was a little nervous to buy a tv on-line, but it went smooth and was a great experience. Another side note. I go the Cheetah universal mounting bracket for $30.00. Worked awsome. Stores want $250.00 for the things!!! Dont do it!
Customer Review: great tv great delivery time Summary: 5 Stars
ordered the sony kdl-52w4100 on friday and received it the next wednesday - delivered and brought into the house and set on the stand. (Also ordered some Blue ray movies at the same time - it's saturday and they're still not here - went by smail mail.) After ordering, there was a difficulty in getting the Amazon credit card to clear the purchase but was cleared up in a short time. Amazon responded to my communications very quickly.
This tv gives a picture that is probably as perfect as you can find. The picture is great right out of the box. The colors are accurate and not fake looking like some sets. Faces don't have that clay-like look of some others. The cabinet is nice looking and when the hdmi cables are threaded correctly, no wires are visible even through the clear cavity built into the lower part of the set. That design is actually rather neat looking.
The sound is good for tv only sound. I have a sound system hooked up and it is very good.
I chose the sony not only because of their reputation but also I think they stand behind their product better than Samsung and some other brands. So far I am very pleased.
Customer Review: bright picture Summary: 5 Stars
We have had the Sony now for approx 3 weeks and so far so good. We had been using our sons LCD system, but he needed it back and unfortunately it was difficult to go back to our old non HD system after being spoiled...
After going thru all the reviews we narrowed down to the Samsung 650 and the Sony 4100. reasons for this was overall good reviews and reliability data.
I eliminated the plama screens because they do seem duller than the LCD displays. I did the comparisons at C OSTCO, but unfortunately they did not stock the Samsungs or a 52" Vizio. The Toshibas also looked pretty good, but weren't 120HZ.
Of all the LCD Tv's the Sony overall seemed to have a brighter picture, has 120Hz, 2 year warranty (C ostco), reasonably priced at 1799 at C ostco and also was concerned about shippment of such a big and somewhat delicate item.
Not sure if 120Hz is really worth it, but want something that will last esp. as we get Blue ray.
Whats interesting is that I thought I had some bad pixels at first, but eventually discovered that some of the TV camera shows have flaws that can be noticed...
