Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony BRAVIA W-Series KDL-52W4100 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTVCustomer Review: No TV is perfect, but this is close, great value for 120hz refresh Summary: 5 Stars
I debated long and hard on the Samsung 750 vs the Sony. The Samsung had more features, 10 bit, internet built in, but in the end I went with Sony. I really didnt like the red trim on the Samsung, and i've never had a Samsung. I've had 5 Sony TV's, including 2 XBRs, and have NEVER had a problem. Never. They are predictably great at rendering a great image...
The one thing about the Sony is that it is SO good, it makes some non-blu ray movies played through a Blu-Ray device (PS3 in my case) that they look like a video. This occurred w Star Wars Phantom Menace, and it looked horrible, like they shot it in a home. It seriously looked like a video! I thought this might be an anomoly, so I tried Planet of the Apes (non blu-ray) and it was not as bad, but similar. That said, I've not made any adjustments to the tv settings (Picture etc..) I just went with it right out of the box. So, it may just be me ... We'll see. I'll report back. But overall: LOVE the TV. Amazing picture.
Customer Review: White Glove, Waste of Time, Great TV. Summary: 5 Stars
I waited until this TV was in stock with Amazon.com rather than buy it through an Amazon Vendor. The reason being I wanted to take advantage of the White Glove Delivery. My advice to you is dont waste your time. if you are going to buy this TV then get it from the cheapest source which is most likely Amazon, however dont have to high expectations on White Glove delivery. I was originally told delivery would be before Christmas, however I had phone call Christmas Eve and was told delivery could be 12/27 at the earliest. When the guys showed up they took it out the box and plugged in the Power That was it. They were in the house 6 minutes. If you struggle with HDMI cables, Surround System etc you might want to consider Geek Squad or a local vendor for set up although it is vry easy .TV is Fantastic though and outways by far the poor attitude and actions of the delivery company.
Customer Review: Best LCD TV Around Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned both LCDs this year - the popular Samsung LN52A650 and the Sony KDL52W4100. I have no hesitation in saying that I prefer the Sony way better than the Samsung. Here's why:
Plus:
- Amazing picture quality - natural colors, amazing black levels, sharpness, clarity on SD broadcasts
- Superior motion enhancement (Motionflow) even on high setting. (superior to Samsung A650 AMP)
- Stylish looks and design
- Decent speakers although I prefer to use my external home theater speakers
- Semi-matte screen reduces glare
Minus:
- Menu layout cumbersome (too much vertical scrolling)
- No remote backlight
- No swivel stand
The minuses are minor issues that I can live with. Overall this is one of the best TVs you can buy at a fair price.
Highly recommended!!
Customer Review: Excellent TV Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned this TV for about a week now. I am very happy with the picture and the price I paid. The picture is very good with standard definition signals and DVD, and excellent with high definition signals. The motionflow setting truly does work as advertised by eliminating most motion blur. There are quite a few options in the picture settings menu so you can tweak the picture to your liking. I didn't see any difference with a couple of them though. Blu Ray discs look wonderfully clear and crisp, and in some cases quite stunning at 1080 24/p. Overall I am happy I purchased this TV. When I was shopping I wanted the best "bang for my buck" as this TV purchase was going to be my last for quite a while. When I compared price, quality of the picture, and features, this TV won out. I am satisfied that this TV will be my "main" TV for quite some time.
Customer Review: Great TV Summary: 5 Stars
Great TV, the picture looks great, the sound is better than other televisions. The Sony was chosen over the Samsung because the Samsung has more of a glare in lighter conditions. Amazon had good service, but its yo-yo pricing on this TV is interesting. I first looked at this TV when the pricing was around 1800. I bought it for 1650, then price went down to 1595 before I received the TV, I called Amazon and they matched the lower price, but it was only at this lower price for a day, then it went back into the 1600's, then it went up to 1900 now it is at 2000. This is all within a months time. I haven't checked the price every day, but I am sure it has changed even more then I indicated. I'm developing a hobby of checking the price since it is fun to see what the price will be on a given day.
