Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-40V2500 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Customer Review: Best LCD on the Market...Plasma beater
Summary: 5 Stars

I must say I am shcoked how good the picture and even the sound are on this LCD. For comparison, I also just bought an Hitachi 42HDT79 Plasma, and this gives the plasma a good showing(in 1080i mode..the hitachi has a native reso of 1024 x 1080 ie. 1080 lines of reso). Both are great.

This Sony has superior contrast, unlike most LCD's, almost plasma like. Also the standard definition cable channels are reproduced better than any LCD on the market by far...not even close. I have a 1080P upconverting DVD player by Samsung DVDHD960, and it produces spectacular images on the TV. I have nothing bad to say about the TV.

DO NOT USE AN HDMI CABLE RUNNING FROM AN HD CABLE BOX! The Cablevision HD DVR's HDMI, produces a much inferior picture when compared to using component cables. Red, Green and Blue will make your dreams come true, HDMI will make you want to cry. An HDMI connection from an upconverting DVD player on the otherhand, is just fine. It must be the quality of the cable box?

The remote control, lacks a bit, but this is made up for by lightning fast, easy to use menus.

Overall if you want an LCD...buy this! dont waste money on anything less. Especially those lesser quality panels..spend a few hundred more for the top tier panel. Amazing picture and sound! ENJOY

Customer Review: This is what I'm talking about !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this TV for some time and wanted to wait and give it some time to give it review.

I love it. The best way for me to explain it. You go around looking for a TV and you go into a store and see a picture that is so good. You say if it looks that good at home I would love it and it looks that good. No tricks or special thing you don't know about. The only thing you need is a HD Cables Box. The sports look unbelievable. I find myself watching the nature channel!!!

Questions I needed answer too.
1. Clouding is when you see white clouds in between commercials. The only reason I saw it was because I was looking for it. Not a big deal. Don't even notice it anymore.
2. It has 8 video lines. 2 HDMI,1 PC,3 red yellow white,2 red green blue. I like in the menu you can name each video line, and you can go right to the one you want to go to. I have PS2,VCR,DVD,WII,Cable Box. (soon PS3)Now you just go to menu and click on the one you want.
3. You could be looking at the TV from the side and it still looks great. You can turn the tv side to side too.
4. Like what everbody else said the deliver was great.

Side note. When the screen is all white I find myself squinting because it's so bright. It's great

I say "buy it"
Good Luck

Customer Review: Best HD LCD TV on the market!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was at Sam's Club recently and they had the Sony Bravia side by side with several other HD LCD's and I found myself mesmerized by the beautiful, vivid, sharp picture displayed on the Sony as compared the other brands. The salesperson was touting the value of one of their 46" TV's at the time, but I could barely listen, my eyes kept drifting back over to the Sony. The salesperson realized what was going on, and chimed in saying, "Oh, the Sony, there is no better picture out there but you can get this 46" for less." I could care less about saving money, I wanted the Sony, and my mind was made up. I went home and researched the various brands of HDTV's and came to the conclusion this was in fact the best tv. Amazon had the best price, so I ordered it here, and was very impressed with the delivery people, the quick delivery, and the price.

What I really like about this TV is that it has various picture modes, my favorite being "vivid" where the screen is brighter and more realistic. It also has wide zoom which takes up the entire screen and enlarges the picture just slightly. It appears to be a bigger TV when you use this mode. Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase and very highly recommend purchasing through Amazon so you can get free shipping, and depending upon your state, pay no sales tax.

Customer Review: Excellent Product & Buying Process
Summary: 5 Stars

After a year of research and of waiting for prices to go down, we decided on the KDL40V2500 (the SAMSUNG 4095 was close second). Despite some hesitation making such a major purchase on-line, the chance to save close to $300 over the cheapest brick-and-mortar shopping option convinced us to take the plunge. The set was delivered (by Eagle Shipping) yesterday, as promised during the ordering process; the shipper showed up on the day and in the timeframe promised, unpacked the set, and even helped move an existing TV to make room for the new one.
Initial impressions: When first turned on, the TV was easy to setup and autoprogram and the remote was simple to use overall. The picture quality on digital channels is very good (480i) and on high def (780P or 1080i) it is simply outstanding; even analog broadcasting looks OK (though with digital equivalents in almost all cases, we'll never want to see analog again). Although we do not subscribe to Digital Cable the built-in QAM tuner allows us to get dozens of digital (unencrypted) channels right off cable without any additional equipment or cost. Sound is quite good for TV speakers (damnation with faint praise, I suppose). Overall we are extremely pleased with the quality of the set and the purchasing/delivery process through AMAZON!!

Customer Review: Worth the price
Summary: 5 Stars

From what I could tell at the store, this SONY performs just as well as the XBR3, which costs hundreds more. HD pictures are great, with no motion blur in fast moving scenes, like football or basketball. The standard definition pictures are pretty good compared to other LCD sets, but I find myself watching all kinds of HD shows that I ordinarily wouldn't bother with just becasue of the difference in picture quality.

If you're looking for a 1080p flat panel, then this is a great choice, especially for the money.

I've read that other owners are complaining about "clouding" -- the appearance of some light or white patches in what should be a black area of the screen -- but on my set it doesn't affect the picture when there is a signal, only during periods of transition between switching channels or inputs, when the screen should be completely black. I haven't noticed it at all, even during the darkest scenes, when there's an active picture on the screen.

I've also read that switching between inputs is cumbersome -- it doesn't have to be. You need to go to the Inputs menu and label all unused inputs as "Skip"; after that, pressing the "TV/Video" button on the remote will bounce you only among inputs that are actually in use.
