Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-40V2500 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTVCustomer Review: DO NOT BUY ONE....YOU'LL WATCH TOO MUCH TV. Summary: 5 Stars
While shopping for this item I fully intended on going with a Samsung top of the line 40" LCD 1080. I went to a local superstore and noticed the 720p model from Sony. The extremely vibrant colors demand your attention and stand out in a crowd. I received delivery of this item. I set the TV up with my home antenna. It looked great for an analog picture. It took me a couple days to attempt to have the digital tuner Auto Program. I was unaware that I could even pick up digital broadcasting over the air. I'm 40 minutes west of Philly and pick up 25 digital channels without cable or dish. I'm not crazy about Nascar..which I'll look at between NFL seasons...but OH MY the Nascar race looks perfect on this TV. I'd buy this TV again from Amazon in a heartbeat. I'm also typing this review on my new Toshiba A135 notebook using the TV as the monitor now. But, this TV causes one problem after another...now I need a cleaner DVD player. I want a combo DVD Recorder/Hard drive Recorder that has an HD tuner. Is that too much to ask since all the technology exists. My father loves Sonys and he wants one. My warning would be that you may find you watch this BRAVIA too much.
Customer Review: Beat my expectations Summary: 5 Stars
I've been lusting for a Bravia for about a year now. I finally took the plunge. Amazon was great. Delivered when promised and Eagle freight was friendly and unpacked it for me. TV is spectacular. I'm amazed by the color, sharpness, and black levels. Much more vibrant than I ever imagined. Regular digital cable (mostly what I watch). Looks great from 10' away. A big relief since I was worried about that. DVD looked good on my old std. DVD player, but was more visably jagged than I expected. I spent $130 (including shipping) for the upscaling Sony DVD player...huge difference, even on old 80s TV shows on DVD...and really noticable for new stuff like Monsters Inc. and Cars. And another surprising point, it does not look riduculously huge in my living room. The black 27" sony I replaced actually seemed bulkier due to the depth of the TV. One quick tip. The only thing I did not like about the TV was that switching between the inputs (8 of them) took forever. You can actually go into the setup menu and skip the ones you don't use. This saves a ton of time when moving from Cable to DVD (my friend has an XBR3 and they loved this tip). I can't recommend this TV enough!
Customer Review: It's a keeper!... I think? Summary: 5 Stars
My kids received a PS3 for Christmas; therefore, I was thrown into the HDTV market. The kids insisted that I buy a 1080P TV. I tried to save a few hundred dollars and bought a Sceptre 42" 1080P and a Vizio 47" 1080P HDTV. I was not completely satisfied with my two purchases. I bought the Sony KDL-40V2500 40" a few days ago. Everyone in the family (including myself) are stunned by the amazing picture on this TV through Dish Network HD channels, PS3 blu-ray discs, and PS3 games. Standard TV and standard DVDs look really good too. I believe it's worth spending a few more bucks to get a superior product.
I'm somewhat concerned over the cloud issues found on the web. I spoke to Sony today. They acknowledged the cloud issue with the Sony XBR HDTVs over the phone and their Sony website. However, they said the Sony KDL-40V2500 does not have a cloud issue. I do have some uneven backlight when the screen is black on blank. It doesn't seem to affect the picture quality. I don't want to return this TV if this should not be a concern. What's your opinion regarding this cloud controversy?
Customer Review: Impressive Summary: 5 Stars
I've had the 40" Bravia for a month now and absolutely love it. I bought this model because it had one of the best pictures for standard def, which was important to me since I watch a lot of programming that isn't yet available in HD. As with most HDTV's, the HD picture quality is outstanding. The standard def channels look very good too. My living room is on the south side of the house, so it's sunny during the daytime. I set the TV to auto adjust the picture for different lighting conditions and it seems to work well. The picture looks great during the day and at night. Regular DVDs look great too. I just got a Nintendo Wii for Christmas, and it looks awesome. It's not hi-def like the Playstation 3, but the Wii's 480p looks good to me. I get some overscan when I plug in my laptop, but I won't be doing that too often anyway. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. When I have visitors over at my house, they always remark on how good the picture looks on this TV. Hopefully this one will last as long as the Sony TV I replaced with it (which still works well after 11 years).
Customer Review: Excellent LCD TV Summary: 5 Stars
Like others who have posted comments about this LCD TV, I have found this to be an excellent TV after about 1 week of use. The picture is very sharp and clear--especially with standard definition. This was important to us as most programming is still in standard definition. There is slight pixelation when viewing closer than 5 feet and watching SDF programming at the same time, but that exists in all LCD TVs. Set up was straight forward and fairly simple. Best price ($1899, although I saw it recently went up tp $1999) and service from Amazon. TV was delivered by Eagle in excellent condition on the day promised. Also took advantage of Amazon's free shipping, no sales tax and 12 month interest free financing. Nobody else offered this combination. I would not suggest the extended service plan as it overlaps with Sony's warranty which basically means you get one less year of coverage from the extended service plan compared to other plans out there that don't take effect until the manufacturer's warranty expires. Overall, very happy with my selection of this TV and purchase from Amazon.
