The unit was a little bigger than I envisioned, but only because my imagination is not very accurate. It can't be too much smaller and accomodate the width of a CD and some speakers.
I think the design is clever, considered, and admirable. Even when the handle is lowered it does not interfere with the tape deck, for example.
There's nothing to complain about in this unit, given its size and price, but it doesn't quite thrill you, either. I'd have gladly traded the remote for an aux jack that would let me pipe my MP3 player.
But I needed tape and CD, portable, at a decent price, and that's what you get here.

I bought this just last week. Amazon's delivery was on commited time. I was looking for a small, compact CD player that also have radio and cassette player. This Sony CFD-E100 exactly fit my bill. I have following observations to make for this player:
Pros:
1. Nice looks, compact size.
2. Good audio quality, for CDs and Cassettes.
3. Nice FM reception.
Cons:
1. You won't be able to preset FM channels without reading manual.
2. MegaBass is not that effective (if you are not audiophile, it is still good).
3. No MP3 support, this would have been great otherwise.

I needed something that I could take around the house and sometimes to church that wouldn't be too bulky and yet would work well. This is a nice unit. I like the stability of the design. The sound is really rather good. It's nice to have an actual antenna as well. That makes it much easier to pick up more and clearer radio signals. It looks looks nice and can fit in a fairly small space.
I only paid about $60 for it and I consider it well worth the money spent.

The Sony "boom-box" is just what I wanted. I am using it with a class of kindergarten students.
tdhe price was rightr.
Howeeve, with the shipping & handling, it was equal to the same item I could find at a retail outlet. However, I could not find such an item when I did shop.
So I am very pleased with this stereo boom box. (It was used, but only barely used.)

Ordering my Sony CFD-E100 Portable CD Radio Cassette Recorder was a pleasant experience from beginning to end. It arrived promptly and in excellent condition. I am very satisfied with its performance. Have used the cassette player, the CD player and AM and FM radio. I appreciate the stereo option and the bass boost option. It fits quite nicely on my kitchen counter and, unlike other players, is small enough but still has a full resonant sound.
