Customer Review: Great Step up for the price

Up until this purchase, I was using a low end sony clie, sparingly. The NX70V is well worth the money. it is a handheld that makes sense and will be used everyday.Things I like:
1)Excellent, read-able screen
2)Thumbwheel and back button on the side are very functional. They make the clie useable without the stylus.
3)Taking pictures and videos. Quality is quite good on pictures, and passable on videos.
4)Palm Reader software is great for reading books(separate software)
5)JFILE is the best program for databases (purchase separately)
6)Acceptable battery life.
7) Still fits in the shirt pocket, however, one should keep the camera end down in the pocket, otherwise it falls out of the shirt pocket if one bends over.
8)Durable - Can take a bounce off of concrete (see #7)
Annoyances -
1)Must have a smart card and card reader to make the NX70V useable. Your memory is out in just a few pictures. Very upset with Amazon for not including the smartcard and reader on the accessories list. I felt lied to.
2) MS Export does not work. Could be my computer, but I doubt it. Why don't these items work as card readers themselves?

Bought it just before it got discontinued for such a great price($320US) from amazon!!!!!! I love its features, the mp3, clie launcher, camera, photo editor and photostand, the list goes on and on. *calming down and collecting thoughts* It has a wonderful 320x480 screen thats very bright (depending on how you set it),
i use the keyboard frequently, despite my initial prediction.
after managing to get a few hacks, i put some great applications on it and it works great!!
Jogdial and back button combo is excellent, very useful
Battery life initially was so so, but as the days wore on and i charged it more, battery life gained substantially. After using it the whole day (mp3, video, games) stil had 35%.
Cons include the poor resolution of camera, and even poorer video, we're talkin webcam quality here. The other con is the ram, at just 16mb, its a little low compared to the nx80.
If you want a better camera, head for the NZ90 or NX80. If you want more ram, go for the NX80.
Overall, this is a wonderful pda, easily one of the best buys i have ever made.

This is THE machine. But when it boils down to it, it's the multimedia that's amazing-and it distinguishes the device from other pdas. The screen is simply stunning. My prior piece was peg 610 which I thought had a great screen. This 320x480 piece is radiant! The backlight at it's dimmest is alive with color and uses power very reasonably. Pictures are crytal clear on this thing. If you like having videos on your palm you will not be disappointed. The nx70 has 2 features which are not clear from any review or publication I have read: 1. videos (especially music ones) appear as they would played on a good desktop or even on tv. 2. No one mentions its external speaker which actually reproduces sounds (albeit not of great quality), not just midi or wav beeps. You get music, voices etc. The faster processor allows for an enjoyable multimedia experience. The digital camera is pretty good, the Sony remote software is fantastic, and it was about time a clie notepad came as part of its software to write down stuff. this clie is awsome, the colors are really clear, the keyboard is nice and is it just me or is it actually true the clie dosent seem that big when u get it, the battery life is no good though maybe like 4 hours at most playing music in hold or playing a gamethe clamshell design thats holding up the screen seems to get a bit looser but no worries stil stable, read on forums that this is normal unless you want to take it apart and tighten it. stil relly nice clie. the music is great gives you the option of using bass, bass two, bass three. the supplied remote control is great also. keyboard is kinda hard to use though, even with my teenager sized fingers sometimes its stil hard to type there, (pressing wrong keys and all that), stil beats grafitti even though i already memorized all the grafitti charcters. hotsync operations are a breeze. THANKS AMAZON FOR THE GREAT EXPERENCE!

I'm glad I waited to spend money on a PDA. This is the 2nd generation of this model with a better camera that even shoots video with sound (something I was not aware of). The new Palm OS 5.0 looks and works with ease and this thing will even turn on your tv. It's expandable and has a slot for a much needed Memory Stick if you're going to also want to use this as an MP3 player. Some reviews squak about the battery life, but considering the vibrant color display and sound capabilities, I have no complaints. I put in the the charger cradle daily when I get home and so far I have not been inconvenienced. I'm still new to the PDA world and it's going to be a while before I'm taking advantage of all that this thing can do, BUT, until then, this is the BEST toy I've had so far. :) Make it an early Christmas for yourself, and I recommend getting the 128 MB Memory Stick.
