Customer Review: Sony has lost its lustre as a consumer tech giant
Summary: 2 Stars

For years I thought SONY was the consumer Tech leader and innovator, that was up until I purchased the DSC T90! This camera is/was a gift for my wife, I am trying to ween her off a Canon film SLR. I was looking for an easy to use point and shoot camera that would be dependable and easy on the pocketbook; so far so good. Amazon shipped the camera promptly and all was well.
Upon opening the box, there is a printed message that states " do not contact the Seller if you are experiencing trouble with this product". I know from previous experiences THAT IS NEVER A GOOD SIGN!
Shrugging off that ominous message, I put an 8Gb Memory Stick Duo card in the device. I got a message to "re-insert memory card". I tried inserting other compatible memory cards and the only one that worked is a 2GB card. I went to Sony's website signed up for a chat session with their digital camera guys and got the bad news the camera has to be returned to Sony for service! No way was I going to return a brand new product to any manufacturer for service. I notified Amazon of my issues and they promptly sent me a new replacement Sony DSC T90.
Upon getting the new replacement camera, I installed a 8GG memory stick duo and got the message "re-insert memory card"! Ugh!!!
Now I have the choice of living with a camera that will accept only 2GB memory sticks or send it back and start all over again.
Shame on SONY!

Customer Review: RIP dear camera... After only 6 months of very light use..
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this camera only 6 months ago. It was terrific! Beautiful pictures, very portable, adorable design, love the touch screen and all the features! I didn't even use it that much, carefully carried it around on a vacation and a couple of family reunions. Now, 6 months after I had this, the touch screen just all of a sudden went pitch black! Teh camera trurns on, you can take pictures, zoom, anything, but you cannot see a thing on the screen... I contacted local sony support (I live outside the US), and they say the screen is done and needs replacing. I never dropped the camera, never handled it roughly, it doesn't even have a scratch, it looks new! I can only wonder how come the screen went dark if i didn't drop it...
Tech guys tell me that repairing it will cost TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS!! (which by the way is only 25$ short of what I paid, as I got it on sale, and half of what it costs now)...

So disappointing, how can it be dead after almost no use and only 6 months!!! I was also told that the warranty may not cover this.

Customer Review: intelligent scene recognition-hated it!!!!
Summary: 2 Stars

I like the portability of this camera and have owned nothing but sony cameras. I decided to get this camera for travel so that i dont look like a tourist with the larger sony that i have that i use for real estate photos. Well i absolutely hate the intelligent scene recognition on this camera because you cannot turn it off!!!!!!!! For example, in a dim dinner setting you cannot turn the flash on or adjust the exposure to lighten the picture because the camera wants to automatically use the twilight setting which makes the photos come out very dark. If i had realized that this feature could not be disabled i would have never purchased the camera-its too late to take it back. Needless to say, i will be looking for another camera and it may be another brand....

Customer Review: 12MP but the quality is from 1999
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this camera as an upgrade from my 3 year old 6 MP Sony. Initially it seemed enticing, what with the 12 megapixels, slim profile, and touch screen. Don't let the bling fool you. The quality of the pictures are horrible, and the autofocus leaves a lot to be desired. The touch screen isn't hard plastic like the iPhone, and got a scratch just from being in my pocket. A closeup reveals a lot of "noise" and almost all flash photos have a gray haze to them that the most advance photo retouching cannot remove. Zeiss is probably rolling over in his grave knowing his name is on this camera. This would be awesome, because it has a lot of practical in camera functions, but until the quality is right, they aren't even worth mentioning.

Customer Review: Poor Picture Quality
Summary: 2 Stars

I usually dont write reviews but I find them helpful. I love Sony and this camera was a huge disappointment. We are returning it because of poor picture quality. We have DSC-H5 and love the pictures, but it is hard to carry around. We wanted a compact camera that would still take good pictures. Many of the pictures were blurry and often had a weird white light on them. We tried adjusting the settings but the pictures poor in good light and poor light. The worst were pictures at night or in a dim lite restaurant. Try something else...
