I purchased this camera a year ago to replace the canon that I had lost and, overall, I was not pleased with the camera. I purchased it because I loved the idea of smile detection but that feature was a complete pain and it rarely worked! I now how and infant and his "smile" never registered- occasionally it would register a smile with my older nieces and nephews but RARELY. The picture quality was not as good as my previous Canon even though it had more mega-pixels. In the end, I dropped this camera in water (an accident, I swear) and I have now replaced it. Other reviews really seem to range from 1-5 so I guess it all depends on your expectations- I was disappointed.Customer Review: Disappointed

I've had this camera for a year now. Needless to say I HATE IT. Blurry photos..I need to adjust the settings every time I want to take a photo, so I end up taking multiple photos until I get one clear. It however works great at close up shots. I used it to sell jewelry online and got great up close photos. Unfortunately, I need a camera for everyday family events and this one just doesn't suit my needs. There is an 'easy' mode that is supposed to apply the correct settings for you. That is a waste of space. I haven't gotten many clear photos that way. I unfortunately agree with the other reviews. My friends had this brand so I purchased this camera as a preorder. It suffers from the following problems:
1) Excessive noise in low light (grainy pics)
2) No video zoom
3) Slow response time. It does not take pics quickly and recover well.
4) Poor focus.
5) In playback, it takes a second for each and every pic to focus from initial graininess.
I wish I could still return this item but alas, 30 days have passed and I threw out the box!

This camera has everything that it said but the picture quality is substandard. The color was dull and the sharpness wasn't there. I returned it the next day. Spend the extra money and get one with a Carl Zeiss Len's. I got the DSC-W230 and love Review: CAMSummary: 2 Stars This product has some problems, when you zoom something, the cam freeze and you have to take out the battery ant turn it back in, and then it loose the malfunction, so i dont recommend it...
