Customer Review: Software Nightmare

I got this handycam as a gift. I did the research on this handycam and was excited to get it until i sat down and began to install the software. i thought i was doing something wrong so itook it back to where my wife had purchased it and went round and round with their geek squad, they kept accusing me of having a old computer and not the right service pack so on and so forth then the geek got the same message that i got. I got another camera and came home to install the software but not so quick, it did not work either, Sony customer service is a joke and geek squad want's $149.95 to install the software and the store wants to charge me a 15% restocking fee so here i sit with a brand new camera that looks pretty and i cannot use. To those that plan to buy one make sure you have a geek in your family that can install the software or you will have a camera on your fireplace mantle like i do.Customer Review: Randy Turner

I chose this because it claimed great lens and features. It has done nothing but disappoint me. The lens , Of which Carl Zeiss is usually superior, is notably inferior in this model. I get footage with a point and shoot video cam that is as clear as this.
The settings are sensitive, tricky and many times I have gone back to find that what I just thought I recorded did not record at all. I have found many times that it simply did not work, spending two hours at a time on the phone with tech support trying to figure out what went wrong.
In any event, that should not be the case, I should not have to waste time contacting tech support every week because something different is not working.
For this reason, I do not recommend this product, and due to similar issues with other Sony Brand Software, (Point and shoot digital cams, editing softwear) I am not purchasing Sony in the future.

Before I purchased this camera I read the reviews. Most were saying that this was a good camera. Some were not too high on its productivity. After getting the camera and using it, I realize that it was not that great. The video is poor in quality and very grainy. The same goes for the pictures. I am not that impressed with it.
