I purchased this camera in 2008 to take on vacation. It takes me forever to decide on electronics to buy because I am very picky. This camera has lived up to all of my expectations and more.
I was not in the market for a professional camera. I wanted a good to better quality camera to film trips, sporting events, and everyday life. This camera does it all. It takes amazingly crisp video as well as still images. It has been bumped and banged on many trips, including overseas, and has survived quite a few falls. It has been in the rain (not recommended), snow, heavy wind on a beach, and nearly met with the Mediterranean sea. It still keeps going.
Battery life is not the greatest. I would strongly suggest a second battery. The touchscreen is responsive. For editing, Microsoft Movie Maker works, but I have Sony Platinum Studio 8 and the camera downloads quickly and easily to it.
