Customer Review: Just go ahead and spend the money

This review is for the Sony DPF-D70. I have purchased four digital frames in the past six months and I think the Sony may very well be the best of the bunch. I've read all the reviews I could find, I looked at Best Buy and Target and did as much research as I could before purchasing. I wanted value, clarity and ease of use. I originally sprung for the Kodak EX-811 because it was Kodak and had Wi-Fi -- but was disappointed because the internal memory would only hold X amount of pictures regardless of the size. I bought the Pandigital with Pantouch because it had high resolution, optimal fit and a touch screen -- within three months the internal memory stopped working and it could only be used with an external card. I bought a Coby because it was cheap and sent it back because it was crap.
The Sony is nice. It's a slim frame. The pictures are high quality. The stand looks like a little antennae instead of what most frames have which slides out and stands up like an ordinary picture frame. This may seem like a small thing but this bar-stand is really smart, it's far more stable than the other type so the frame doesn't fall over if it's bumped and you can't easily break it like you can with the others. I got the 7" instead of the 8" because a smaller footprint is important to me. Most of these frames you CAN mount on the wall, but you won't mount it because it has to have a power cord going up to it and that's just a pain. So it's sitting on your desk/counter/nightstand where space is typically a premium. The 7" works fine for this setting.
I give the Sony five stars for ease of use, smart design, good quality picture, sleek looking frame and ingenious frame stand. My previous experience with Sony leads me to believe I will be able to reach a technical support person should an issue arise. I had no such luck with Pandigital. Another great thing about the frame is the auto-orientation. If I want to put it on its side, the lit Sony logo goes dark (otherwise it would be lit up sideways) and it automatically reformats the pictures for the new view. Having the frame on its side takes up about 5.5" inches of space - not bad and it looks sharp. Sony may not be as competitive in cost, but I believe it makes a great frame for the money.
