I read a lot of reviews before buying a digital frame as a gift for my father. I ended up buying a PanDigital 15 inch frame because the reviews were mostly good, it was large, and it had high resolution. I was very disappointed in the Pandigital, the options were VERY limited, there were only three timer settings (3, 5, or 10 seconds), the wooden frame had a cheap fake feel to it, the onscreen and menu controls were awkward and counter-intuitive, and despite the very high resolution the picture did not look crisp or bright. So, I returned it and bought the 9 inch Sony even though I wanted a larger frame. And it turns out the Sony is a vastly superior product, and the 9 inches is plenty large as long as you are not viewing from a distance. The 9 inch Sony is blatantly made to be put on a table or a shelf, not hung on the wall. The picture is bright and images are scaled well, the frame is elegant and takes minimal space, there are countless options in the easy to use menu system, it is very easy to use, and, well, I simply have zero complaints. It is kind of like an ipod, when you turn it on you realize that this is exactly how such a device should work. Meanwhile, I hope that some day Sony will make a larger frame for wall mounting. I e-mailed Sony in January of 2009 to ask if they had plans to make a larger frame, and they replied that I should keep an eye on their what's new web site. No, thanks, I'll just look again on amazon a few years from now!
