Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony DRBT140Q Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headset (Silver)

Customer Review: Good product
Summary: 3 Stars

I am overall satisfied with this product but the headphones are not as comfortable on my ears as i would want them to, especially when laying down, it will not stay tight on my ears instead it will go outward unless i lay my head to the side. However it does serve it's purpose in the gym, being cordless for a change it's amazing. Quality, Battery and everything else is great so far.

Customer Review: Hurts my ears
Summary: 3 Stars

Pairs fast with my iTouch, but hurts my ears after 20 minutes. It't too tight, with no way to adjust the spring tension. I cannot lay in bed and use these, as they get tilted from the pillow. The range is great though and wireless is the way to go..

Customer Review: Ears Of Steel
Summary: 2 Stars

Pros:
-Better sound quality than I expected from Bluetooth headphones
-Exceptional battery life. I have spent 11-12 hour days using these at the office and let them charge overnight every night.
-Barely noticeable...sort of (see cons)
-Great range. Although I don't stray too far from my desk and work in a fairly small office, I can roam around the office without any disruption.
-Easy to setup/pair with my computer.
-Volume controls are easy to get to and rather intuitive.
-No rigid piece connecting the two earpieces. Just a friendly strap that attributes to the "barely noticeable" feeling (again, see cons).

Cons:
-These headphones would be perfect for those who have ears of steel. The fit of the ear hooks is spot on, it's just that constant pinching/pressure towards the front part of the lobe that becomes distracting after awhile. I find myself constantly adjusting or removing them for a time to give my ears a rest. If I'm going to continue to use these on a regular basis, I'm going to have to look for some sort of soft wrap to go on the ear hooks. Otherwise, the discomfort is enough for me to start searching for a more comfortable alternative.
-Their appearance looks antiquated, which may be a pro for some. It seems like they took their design cues from the 80's. I don't particularly mind since I'm not around many people while wearing them. I probably won't wear them in public for fashion's sake.
-Could benefit from a mute button (very minor gripe). I listen to an online playlist that interrupts my music with a commercial from time to time. While at my computer, the mute button is not far from my keyboard but when I'm roaming, not so much. Turning them off as a mute alternative turns the speakers on the computer on, thus potentially disturbing others in the office.

Unknowns:
-I can't speak for the mic quality and making phone calls from these. It was never my intent to use these for this purpose but something tells me that they would be more than adequate. Would probably work well with your phone or computer (Skype).

Verdict:
Unless you have ears of steel and are not bothered by the discomfort earlobe pressure, or only plan to use these for a short periods of time (like running which I feel they would be secure enough for such an activity), you may want to find a more earlobe friendly set of headphones.

Update (2/21/2011):
Disregard above review...these things are complete garbage.

Customer Review: Does what Sony says it does...barely
Summary: 2 Stars

The cons outweigh the pros with this one. I was pretty dissapointed with the DRBT140Q.

Pros:
- Connects and operates with Bluetooth enabled products as advertised.

Cons:
- Phones will fall off (or hang off your ears uncomfortably) if your head is not upright
- Poor music quality --> sound is tinny and shallow
- Cloth covered cord which connects the phones is uncomfortable (itchy and stiff)
- Poor reception range --> around 5 feet
- Poor reception power --> was losing connection when I turned my head away from the phone while the phone was in my front jacket pocket
- Poor connection quality --> cuts out about once every 20 seconds on average

The DR-BT50 is a much better set of headphones. I would stay away from the DRBT140Q and recommend the DR-BT50 instead.

Customer Review: sub-par design. if you want good bluetooth headphones, look elsewhere!
Summary: 2 Stars

build quality was decent...buttons were somewhat sloppy, but nothing you couldn't put up with.

the headphones sounded good - if you pressed them against your ears...otherwise, the janky little plastic loop does a VERY poor job holding the headphones against your ears, leaving them loose on the surface of your ear, giving the music a very high treble, washed out sound. simply turning your head quick enough will shake them out of position on your ears. overall, a very poor design.

so, if you're looking for good bluetooth headphones, keep on looking!
