This DVD player is awesome! The screen resolution is very good. I don't notice the difference between it and my HD TV. All the buttons are on the screen making it easy to use. You can even scan by using the arrow buttons in play mode. The battery life lasts about 5 hours with the backlight set on the default setting and using headphones. Cords to hook it up to your TV are included, as well as a power adaptor to your car. I've replaced my home DVD player (not portable) with this one because I like the displayed image better. I also travel with it. The battery pack makes it a little heavy, but it's compact enough to fit in a carry-on bag. It's perfect when your stuck at the airport or have a long flight. I've owned mine since October 2008 and have had no problems with it. This is one of the best investments I've made.Customer Review: Superior DVD Player

I spent about an hour one day at Best Buy with all of the different portable DVD players lined up next to each other. I took the same DVD and put them into each one, watching for picture clarity and sound. This Sony DVD player was far superior to all of the other player when it came to picture quality. None were even close to it. The volume is very loud and would be more than enough for anyone in any situation. I was worried about that at first since the original DVD player I wanted was fairly quiet. The sound quality is only average, but it's good enough for my 2 year old. I would recommend this DVD player to anyone who is looking for one that is the best all around and doesn't want to spend a ton of money. The unit arrived well packed in an attractive box. All of the bits inside were very easy to get at when I unpacked them. I took the DVD player out of the box, plugged it in using the connection provided, inserted a DVD, did what seemed obvious with hardly any need to study the instructions, (like pusing the "play" button) and it worked fine straight away. Total elapsed time from opening box to playing was less than three or four minutes. I have no complaints except that it would be nice to include a headset, even if it was only a cheap one, since operating the unit in public using only the internal speakers could be annoying to others. For the rest, I recommend this player highly based on quality, funtionality and comparable price.Customer Review: Good upgrade from Sony DVP-FX810

Have owned the original Sony DVP-FX810 and that was a good player too. I sold that and bought this one. The resolution is about twice as high as the original. Just bought this but I can tell you the screen really shines compared to every other DVD player (portable) that I've seen. I'm sure more players will have the high resolution soon. The volume is also much louder than the original.
The battery is supposed to last 6 hours at lowest brightness. With my old one which is basically this I did manage 5 hours at medium brightness so two movies should work fine before the low battery symbol shows. I wanted the red one but the sonystyle at Metreon had everyone except the red but the blue is nice too. Highly recommended.

We purchased this Sony DVD player after a year of having an LG brand DVD player. The LG quit 4 days after our warrenty expired and the company wouldn't do anything to help us... so we were left either spending an additional $100 on repairs or find a new one.
So, we researched and found this Sony! It sounded great and the best from all the DVD players in its category. So far, the reviews have been right.
The sound quality is great and we actually have yet to need the full levels of sound for any trip thus far. The picture is great. It does not skip over bumpy roads. We like all the features that it offers and feel that it should be something we will have years from now.
