I bought this player in December after the off-brand one I bought years ago from WalMart got ruined. Our cat chewed the power cord in half and it was almost as much to get a new cord for the old one as it was to purchase a new unit. I really wish I would have just bought a new power cord for the old one as I liked it much better than this Sony. I thought I would get a name brand this time and pay a little more for the quality. Not a good idea. The Sony screen is too dark even when I adjust the setting. The screen is smaller. I HATE the location of the "open" button for the dvd hatch. Almost everytime I pull up on the screen to open the unit, I accidentally open the dvd hatch. This wouldn't be so bad, but it restarts your movie and you have to find your spot in the movie you were watching. Starting out, every once in awhile I would have to restart it a few times to get it to play some dvd's. Now, only 2 months later, it decides not to charge. I now have to send it to Texas at MY expense to have it repaired. I guess I was lucky though, my only expense SO FAR has been the shipping. BUT, the warranty is only 3 months. After that, the labor is not covered so the labor cost would be more than the price for a new unit! What a horrible warranty! I think all electronics should come with a 1 year waranty at least! I have a feeling this dvd player won't last long.Customer Review: We loved this at first but it didn't last long and the warranty is garbage!

We loved this DVD player at first but unfortunately after about 3 months the screen started going blank but then seemed to resolve itself. The warranty would have involved us paying $33 for a refurbished model...we decided to just take our chances with what we had. About a week after the warranty was void the picture went out completely! Very disappointed about wasting $170 on this junk! :(Customer Review: disappointed

I was completely happy at first, we bought it to entertain our 2 year old for a vacation. It worked great for the first plane ride but once the battery went low, I wasn't able to charge it again. Maybe I just got a lemon. Oh well time to return it to Sony.Customer Review: Screen died after 17 months

Play a few times a week and screen and all buttons died on me today. That's the end of this machine. Not such good value. Don't think I should have to replace item after a year and a half. Annoyed and disappointed.
