I was looking for a good quality DVD player selling at a good price. Did I get a real winner. The Sony DVP-NS57P/B Progressive Scan DVD Player was perfect. Amazon's delivery was flawless and the unit was easy to set-up and worked like a charm. I do not yet have a wide/flat screen TV, so I didn't want to invest a lot of money in case the unit would not be compatible. I have used it for several weeks without a problem - just three clicks and the money is up and running. And, the slow fast forward is new for me and allows you to see the action not simply jump to the next section. At $50 this is a steal.Customer Review: Lucky Pick

I have read the reviews and feel bad for the people that have had problems. I had the same problem with a Phillips about the same price.
Luckly I have not had a problem with any of the DVDs that I have burned on the computer. Sometimes there has been a bad burn on some dual layer discs that look like the rings of Saturn on the disc those are instant trash or coasters. Besides that it works with all other discs.
I recommend it with my luck only it sounds like others have not had the same results.

I recently purchased a $29 Magnavox and then tried to play a used copy of Rush in Rio on it. The sound was so horrible I ended up taking it back and trading up for this Sony. It has a lot more audio options than the Magnavox, or should I say, it HAS audio options! lol The sound and picture are phenomenal on my standard TV with stereo sound. I've only had it one day but the reviews here are good and I anticipate it will easily meet my needs. If it plays that Rush DVD it should play anything.Customer Review: Best purchase made

I love this product! We had gotten a copy of a CD made by a friend for our parents for xmas of old pictures that we played once on our old DVD player. After that it was always distorted and would stop in several places. When I got this product, that was the first thing I tried playing in it. It played all the way through without one single thing wrong. I love it! The price is what got me to buy it, but next time I need another DVD player, this is the first place I'll go to get it.Customer Review: Good product, great service, low price

My old cheap dvd player froze up, so I tried to get this model at a Best Buy. They were less than helpful.
This dvd player was easy to use (Quick Setup), there were no sales taxes or shipping costs and the price was comparable to Best Buy with no hassle. Delivery was in 3 days of my order. And best of all, this player wasn't made in China. Apparently Sony (and Sharp) still carry some quality items. I had researched this online also.
