Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony DVP-NS57P/S Progressive Scan DVD Player, SilverCustomer Review: Fantastic DVD player for the money Summary: 5 Stars
I was having some issues with my older Panasonic player when it came to playing DVDs I had burned on my computer. I did some research and read the positives about the ability of this unit to play burned discs. These reviews were spot on!
I've now tested numerous brands of burned discs, both + and -, and have yet to run into one that skipped/pixeled, let alone not play.
This is a no frills unit but if you're simply looking for a player to watch discs on a non HD TV, or if you're looking for a machine to play burned DVD's, you cannot go wrong...especially for the price.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Great for the money Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this CD player since April and have had no problems with it at all. It's played all my own DVD's and rented ones with scratches just fine.
It would be nice if some of the video/audio menu settings could be performed while a DVD was running instead of stopped, so it would be easier to quickly compare setting results, but this is not only this player but also my other Sony players as well. (Since all my players have been Sony I don't know if all players are this way or just Sony.)
The display could be a bit larger.

Sony DVP-NS57P/S Progressive Scan DVD Player Silver
I purchased this for my elderly parents. It needed to be straight forward to use and easy to master. It was both! They were able to use it with a one time run through and a couple of reminders without difficulty. The remote is user friendly and intuitive. The quality was also excellent. There are many players on the market. This one fulfilled all of my expectations.
Customer Review: Just bought my second of these Summary: 5 Stars
An excellent, reliable DVD player for the price. It doesn't play video files (AVI, MPG, etc.), but that's fine with me. My needs are simple, and this player meets them. It handles DVD+/-R and DVD+R DL discs as well as commercially produced DVDs, and -- a great convenience -- when I shut it off partway through a movie, it returns to that point in the movie when I turn it back on.
I now own two of these players, both going strong.
Customer Review: Easy to use! Summary: 5 Stars
What a nice, compact easy to use player! It takes up a lot less room than my old one.
Yes, as some have said, it is a little slow in loading, but it's not that bad. The remote is quite nice! Black lettering on a light gray background is much easier to read than the reverse especially when you are looking for the pause button in a darkened room.
The price makes is all the more worth it.
