Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony DVP-NS700H/B 1080p Upscaling DVD Player, BlackCustomer Review: Probably one of the best upscaling DVD player's out there Summary: 5 Stars
I have two Upscaling DVD players (this one, and the Philips DVP5990), this DVD player is by far one of the best upscaling players out there. I would highly recommend it, especially if you have a Sony TV.
PROS:
* The picture quality when using HDMI is simply amazing, the colors are extremely vivid and the 1080i upscaling is great.
* The surround sound option is phenomenal,(this is by far my favorite of all of the features on this product) and you can hear so much more on the DVD that you would have missed on a standard player. The 'dynamic' surround sound setting is great for action movies.
CONS:
I really cannot think of any cons for this player, I have had this for about 6 months now and have had no problems with it.
Customer Review: Great player for the money. Sony is the best! Summary: 5 Stars
Quality always seems to follow Sony products. Sony seems to remember the most important facit of sales that so many other companies, large and small, forget or just plain ignore; quality sells!
A side note about Sony electronics which makes life easy for the electronically impaired. The dvd player has a feature Sony calls Sony Link. The bottom line about this feature is that once connected to a Sony TV, all you need do to play a DVD is turn on the dvd player and put a DVD in the dvd player. The TV turns itself on and the DVD begins to play. When the dvd player is turned off, the TV automatically switches to a cable signal and broadcasts television. Sony makes life easy and delivers it with quality.
Customer Review: good dvd player. looks good and works well. Summary: 5 Stars
dvd playback quality is an improvement on this dvd player vs older ones without upscaling. nowhere near bluray quality, though -- dont let reviewers fool you. in order to truly experience 1080p quality video, you need a high quality video, for one, for two, you need a quality, 42+ inch tv, with 1080p capabilities, and for three you need a quality playback device and cable. theres just no comparing dvd to hd video. those who have truly experienced hd video on a true hd setup know what im talking about. great if you want to take an affordable step up from older dvd players -- not comparable to bluray, though. the player itself is fine, but some of these reviews are obviously from people who havent seen true high definition.
Customer Review: Excellent Player Summary: 5 Stars
I hooked this bad boy up to my 50" Insignia HDTV after my old DVD player died. Using the HDMI connection for the best possible picture and sound. I hadn't heard of 'upconverting' or 'upscaling' DVD before, but after some research decided on this Sony. If you're budget conscience, get this player. If you're into labels, get this player. Some may say it's not as good as the real high end players, and they may be exactly correct, but unless you're running both players side by side, (all the time) how the heck will you know, and why would you care as long as the picture and sound you're getting is top notch. And with this player, it is.
Even old DVDs look better. Save your money, buy this player, and enjoy the show.
Customer Review: Up converting DVD player Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Sony DVD player because of the upscaling to 1080 - I'm not ready to spend the extra money for Blue Ray
from the reviews I read a lot of people tried this technogigy and say it almost the same as a Blue ray player close enough it very hard to tell the difference - and after using the prouduct I also think so - it makes a for a great image on the screen - I like the Sony because I have a standard Sony DVD player and it will play disk made on a computer and 2 other unit we had will stop and hang - it's does a great job of tracking - I would have to rate this unit as a 5 star - no problems - I use the HDMI cable out put - you don't need a an expensive cable - I got one at 2.00$ and it works fine
