Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony DVP-NS700H/B 1080p Upscaling DVD Player, BlackCustomer Review: Sony...what else can you say?! Summary: 5 Stars
I returned a Panasonic that skipped and froze. I looked around and found this one. I've had it for over 6 months and it performs like a champ. It has never frozen on me. My 3 year old has decided he wants to "be a big boy" and put the DVD in himself and push the buttons. Luckily, he's born with some engineering traits and is able to do it without destroying anything, although he gets his finger prints on the discs. Once in awhile I have to clean the discs because of this, but the machine tries really hard to play it anyway and will skip a little. I highly recommend this if you're looking for something that gives good picture quality AND is dependable and functional.
Customer Review: Best value for your money over any player Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned this player for a few weeks now and am very satisfied. The upscaling picture quality, sent through HDMI, is excellent. I have the player connected to a new 46" Sony Bravia LCD HDTV. The player and the TV look perfect together, and I can use either Sony remote to control both units. While playing DVDs the player is silent. However, I feel as though I should mention the loading tray and motor are cheap and make a whirring noise when opening or closing the drive. Nonetheless, this is the best player, by far, that you can find for under $100. Setup with HDMI could not be easier and the upscaling makes a huge difference over our old player.
Customer Review: Great DVD Player Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this player for about 2 months now after upgrading from an older 5-disc tray DVD player. As soon as I connected this to my 40" LCD TV with an HDMI cable I was very impressed with the image(720 P). It is not going to look like Blu-ray, but with the current prices for Blu-ray being a couple hundred dollars why bother?
It does seem to take a while (a few extra seconds, not minutes) but I'm assuming this is part of the upscaling (and maybe buffering) used by the player.
I have no complaints...it works as hoped. I would highly recommend this player. I would definitely buy another one if it was lost or stolen.
Customer Review: Value and Performance Summary: 5 Stars
A great machine at a reasonable price. There are far higher-priced options such as the "high-end" upconverting machines. I do not believe that most Home Theater users would be able to tell the difference between the 1080p output from this machine and the output from a DVD player costing hundreds more. The choice to me is clear: anyone who does not want to buy a costly BlueRay player is well served by choosing to go with a quality upconverting player like this one. The upgrade from my older DVD player (a normal "progressive-scan" player without 1080p upscaling) was a huge difference. Well worth the price which is under $75-100!
Customer Review: Great little upverting DVD player Summary: 5 Stars
This little Sony is a real gem. It was extremely easy to set up, taking all of 5 minutes! Or less! The picture is great, working both on my HDMI TV, and the unit I purchased for my sister is great on her older TV which is slated to be replaced later this year.
The remote controls are obvious for use, and the layout of the remote is simple to learn. I enjoy the fact the player goes to black screen with moving windows to protect my TV if I'm interrupted longer than expected while watching a movie.
This is a great machine, especially for the price. A person can't go wrong with it!
