I bought this shotgun mic because my sony camcorder's mic wasn't cutting it. I was recording lectures at a university, and the audio was too acoustically flat and the speaker's voice was barely audible.
After putting on the shotgun mic, all of my videos had clear audio. I definitely recommend this. Excellent quality and functionality. It really does actually zoom in on the sound area (in sync with the camera's zoom setting).
Glad I bought it.
