Based on the glowing reviews, I ordered this to replace an Olympus digital voice recorder that suffered from major interference issues (couldn't have a cell phone within 10 feet of it when in use). Tried to record a telephone call today (landline phone) using this Sony device and while the recording started our clear within two minutes it became garbled - I could hear my voice but not the voice of the person on the phone. The device was only a few inches away from the speaker phone at the time. Since this device was intended for business use and failing to record a call/meeting creates serious problems (having to repeat the call/meeting, trying to decipher pages of handwritten notes, etc.) I immediately packed this back up in the box for return to Amazon. This is the third digital recorder I've tried in the past three years - think I'm going back to an old fashioned tape recorder....Customer Review: Buyer Beware!

I was very happy with my voice recorder--until IT DIED AFTER LESS THAN HALF A DOZEN USES. Tried everything, including new battery, but it would not turn on. My computer no longer recognized it; later on, the computer did recognize the device, but it still wouldn't turn on. After over an hour with Sony's tech support, the best they could do was to direct me to the Sony website where I could choose either repair ($25) or replacement with a refurbished device ($29). I'm not inclined to throw good money after bad.Customer Review: bad seller

i have to say, this seller is terrible. after i purchased the order, it took forever for them to ship my item, and the crazy thing is, after 2-3 months, i havent got my item yet, and i called and they said they lost the track of my item!!!
but luckily, AMAZON refund my money right away.
still, the seller is very inresponsible and bad service. never try to get ahold with me or tell me whats happened. just totally ignored me the whole process but charged my money!!

Don't waste your money. Easy to use, terrible quality. You have to be talking directly into the recorder and then playback on highest volume to barely hear anything. The playback is full of static and the quality terrible. Will not work in any classroom setting or anywhere else that I can see as the playback in not audible. Would not recommend to anyone.
