The other positive reviewers have pretty much described this product accurately; but I just wanted to add my two cents worth. I also did hours of research; and I can tell you that this unit works as advertised. It charges and plays the iPhone 3G without any issues ... no warnings ... just the experience you would expect. Regarding the wobbling, I don't have much of a wobble. I think that may be related to where you actually place the device as much as the device itself. Not all tables, counters, etc. are level and I think that is the problem with some of the people who have mentioned it. The fitting adjustment on this unit is absolutely wonderful because as long as the docking mechanism is the same size, it will never matter how thick or thin your next iPod is. This unit will work fine with an iPod or iPhone of ANY thickness. Just perfect! Oh yes, the sound is pretty good too; and there is even a feature that improves the sound. The radio reception is one of the best I've seen in a clock radio. One thing: make sure you get this unit. You will if you pay anywhere near the retail price. The older ones are on sale everywhere; and I expect those that have the wrong unit were looking at the price more than anything else. You get what you pay for. I was looking for a christmas gift for my fiance who had a really cheap clock radio.
Since he had a nice ipod I went looking online for a nice clock radio/docking station.
He is very fussy about brand name electronics as am I and I decided to stick with the Sony
brand that he loves.
On Christmas day his eyes lit up as he opened this and got it all set up. He loves the remote
that came with it and sound quality is great as always with Sony! I feel with electronics you get what
you pay for and Sony has not failed us yet. Everything is compatible, ipod charges, remote works, easy to
read alarm clock with a simple alarm that we use.
I also like that the ipod has the speakers behind it to protect it as opposed to some that just have the ipod
sticking straight out of it with no support. (we have 3 cats) So I never have to worry about the ipod being
bumped or knocked out of the docking station.
Pros - remote control for ipod, good sound quality, reasonably priced.

I won't repeat all the details other reviewers have written, but I just want to say one thing: I don't know what all the fuss is about regarding the brightness of the display. From what others posted I almost did not purchase this item. But I'm glad I did.
The display has three brightness settings easily accessible by a large button on top of the unit. I'm a light sleeper but found the display to be perfect. Of course some light emanates from it, but that's the point, isn't it? In no way is it so bright that it disturbs sleep. And the idea of taping over the display or putting a book in front of it to block the light is absolutely ridiculous.
I rarely write reviews on any websites but I'm so pleased with this unit and so happy that previous reviews didn't discourage me from buying it, that I didn't want anyone else to be hesitant because of some ridiculous comments about the display.
By the way, the sound is absolutely superb, the controls are logically located and I'm thrilled with the price and quality.

I read a ton of reviews and compared 6 or 7 different models before making my selection. My big concern was sound quality and the brightness of the screen. I am more than pleased with both. The sound quality on this unit is incredible, especially for its size. There are 3 settings for the brightness of the screen and even on the brightest setting it was not too bright at all. I love the remote and the ability to control my iPod or radio from across the room. I was nervous about buying something like this without being able to test out the speakers first to see how the sound quality stacked up against other units but I've seen iHome units that friends have and read enough reviews to feel confident in this purchase. Even my husband was surprised/impressed at the sound quality and it takes a lot to impress him. Obviously this is not a full size stereo that is going to throw out a ton of sound but it definitely a good unit for an alarm clock and just around-the-house sound. OK, so the title may be a little-bit of an exaggeration, but not by much.
I've owned a LOT of clock radios over the years, and this one beats them all hands-down. It was a snap to set up and program, with clear instructions that aided each step.
Performance and sound are, in my opinion, above average in quality. I really enjoy going to sleep or waking to my iPod. The unit also picks up both AM and FM channels very well, especially with the easily attached antenna wires for AM.
About the only complaint I have is that the white lighting of the display is way too bright, even at the lowest setting. You can practically read a book by it. I solved this by putting some translucent orange plastic over the display to both reduce the light output and turn the color into one that is warmer and less likely to reduce night vision.
Bottom line: Great clock radio!
