Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony ICF-C1IPMK2 Speaker System and Clock Radio with iPod Dock (Black)Customer Review: Protects your iphone from flying hands Summary: 4 Stars
I got this for my sister in laws birthday, she got a iphone 3G and found out her old docking station for her ipod wouldn't charge it like apple told her it would. so was a little erked but nothing done about it. I went looking for docking stations compatible and found this of all places at bestbuy. all the others I had seen up till then set the ipod/iphone on top which if its an alarm clock also and your like any other american that hates having to get up early to go to work. you swing your arm looking for the snooze button. my thinking broken iphone one morning when you missed the snooze button and slapped your iphone. then your out a phone and docking station
This thing works great. no problems with it. the sound quality when near maxed volume gets little choppy compared to the old ALTEC Lansing but in the end how many of us MAX out our speakers. This unit works great in a small room, large room, kitchen, and bathroom. not the best outside however as the unit relies on the echo for sound quality. as i said works great, the clock light is not to bright so it wont affect you when your trying to sleep. this met all expectations, but did not exceed. great for the price.
Customer Review: Great alarm clock Summary: 4 Stars
I was very impressed with this alarm clock. If you are looking for a travel alarm, this is not the unit for you. It is not an I-Home 2 Go in any way, shape or form. If you are looking for a stereo replacement, this is not the unit for you either. There is nothing hi-fi about it. But if you are looking for a great alarm clock that works with the I-phone and gives you decent quality "get ready for work" music (way better than a standard radio alarm)in your bedroom, this system rocks.
The I-phone sits beautifully in the holder and the adjustable back rest is a brilliant idea for fitting any Ipod without having to change adapters.
As far as controls go, it was a tad bit of a challenge to get used to it, but nothing that required a "rocket-scientist" to learn. I had to resort to the instructions only once in the setup process.
I have had my I-phone tell me that it does not work with the system a couple of times, but if I undock and redock it, it works just fine.
Had it not been for those few problems recognizing the I-phone and had the music quality been closer to that of the Ipod Hi-Fi box, I would have given it a 5 star rating.
Customer Review: Great Design, just a couple kinks Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great product, no doubt. The quality is great, no big issues.
While it does fit the Universal Dock Adapter, Sony created a system that requires no dock adapter. Rather, there is a thing (for lack of a better term) sticking out behind the iPod that is adjustable (for various iPod thicknesses), so the iPod is firmly in place without an adapter. Very innovative design, all speakers should have it.
However, they are not perfect. The screen on the clock doesn't get very dim, so it tends to light up a dark room (slightly, but definitely noticeable). The brightness is adjustable, but the dimmest setting is still bright.
Also, the controls are a little difficult to work (although when are controls on speakers easy, other than the Altec Lansin ones with a simple dial).
Additionally, they aren't VERY loud. They are fine for one room, but if you want to leave the speakers in one room and hear them loud in another, well, you won't.
Overall these are great speakers, I highly recommend them. The biggest issue is definitely the screen brightness.
Customer Review: Great !!! Summary: 4 Stars
I am using this unit with an Touch 2g and it works perfect. I really like that knob in the back that gives my Touch the extra support when I am controlling the Touch when docked. It doesn't feel like I am going to break off the dock attachment. I had an Ihome ih9 and it felt I would snap the dock if i messed with the touch when docked. The only thing I liked about the ih9 was the bass other than that it was inferior. This Sony comes with a 1 year warranty vs 90 days with Ihome. The speakers on my ih9 ihome started to humm at low volume, so it got really annoying, this sony is nice and crisp. I listen to the the radio am and fm sometimes and this Sony does great, very crisp. The ihome on the other hand had a lot of static. The only reason that I didnt give this a full 5 stars is due to the bass being a little week. I think that Sony could have done way better with the bass. I know this is only a 100 dollar unit but hey if they wanted 5 stars they could do better for us by giving us better bass.
Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to Summary: 4 Stars
This is the best iPod clock alarm I could find that was affordable. I bought it for my son and he says it's good. :)
It will let you wake to the iPod. Surprisingly, I had to return a Logitech that would only wake you a buzzer. It seems to me that waking up to the music on your iPod would be a basic requirement. This unit will let you set two alarms and use radio, buzzer, or iPod for each. My son uses iPod, then about a half hour later, the buzzer goes off.
As far as setting the iPod, my son sets the iPod the way he wants and pauses it. It might work some other way, but that's what he's doing.
The display has 3 brightness settings.
The cradle is nice because of the block that supports the iPod from behind. That's better than just having the iPod "out there" where it can get whacked while reaching for the snooze button!
Yes, the clock radio is top heavy. Oh well. It's good points make up for it.
