Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony ICF-C1IPMK2 Speaker System and Clock Radio with iPod Dock (Black)

Customer Review: Everything I Expected, button layout could be better
Summary: 4 Stars

i got this for my iPhone 3g, and i think it was really my best option without spending 4 times as much for the Bose. it does everything i want it to do, minimal distortion at the higher volumes for a clock radio. I can set what i want to listen to when i wake up and set a sleep timer to listen to something at a diffrent sound level while going to sleep. The display is alittle bright and dosent have a dimmer, and for best quality you really have to turn your iphone on airplane mode, otherwise every time you get an e-mail pushed, text, phone call, whatever; it gets some interferance/distortion being so close(less than an inch) from the speaker. But its really a pretty minor complaint..
And obviously if your going to use just a ipod none of that would affect you.
If your a deep sleeper i might not recomend this product, as the alarm automaticly shuts off after 3 minutes and i havn't found a way to adjust it. But im Happy with it..

Customer Review: Think of this as informed consent...
Summary: 4 Stars

"Benefit": waking up to your iPod/iPhone 3G, decent sound quality (for a $75 system). Can use as a sound system for a small gathering (e.g., Jazz during wine and cheese), as long as you're not a "sound snob". (if you are, spring for the Bose or better)
"Risk": slightly wobbly for unexplained reasons - not to the point of falling over, but I expected more from a Sony. More importantly, a VERY cumbersome interface which shows you the expected activation time of "alarm A," even if "alarm A" is turned off!! What the h*** is the point of that?! Again, I had previous Dream Machines, and I expected more out of Sony.
"Alternatives": Logitech, iHome, etc.

Overall not a bad product, and given a chance to reconsider iHome versus this I would probably still pick this - but definitely some annoyances that shouldn't be present in a product made by Sony, a giant in the home electronics industry.

Customer Review: Works great with iPhone but display is a bit bright
Summary: 4 Stars

I read the reviews here before purchasing and knew that several people had complained about the brightness of the display, but I typically have a higher tolerance for light when I sleep. Well, I find that the complaints are warranted... this thing really is pretty bright if kept on a nightstand like a typical alarm clock. I really love the unit - it's reasonably intuitive to use, has very good sound, and gets great radio reception - the only drawback being the display brightness.

It doesn't really keep me awake, but I do find it rather annoying and distracting when I try to sleep. If you're sensitive to light when you sleep, you'll either want to skip this unit or find a way to block the display before going to bed. On the other hand, this thing works great with an iPhone, so if you think the display issue isn't a major problem for you, I'd highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Not too bad...
Summary: 4 Stars

Got ICF-C1IPMK2 yesterday. Had a chance to fiddle with it, set it up, use the sleep mode, listen to music, and use the "remote commander". First impression is the sound is better than expected, pretty crisp, the bass distorts on some stuff if it's too loud, but I'm using it my bedroom, and that won't be an issue (plus the test song was "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash, a little extreme).

I didn't find the display too bright, as has been mentioned often, but it's also not next my head, it's across the room at the foot of the bed. But, I think the display could use more contrast - so the digits don't wash out in the back light.

Only other quibble would be that the "remote commander" could use some glow paint so its buttons are visible in dark for a while.

Pretty happy with it though, glad I made the purchase.

Customer Review: Acceptable, well priced Sony
Summary: 4 Stars

I read about a thousand reviews and then bought this unit because it was on sale at Best buy all in all im pretty happy with my purchase. its a well built, and well prices unit that meets most of my requirements.

Pros:
Price
its pretty well made (not an heirloom but OK for an electronic device)
has lots of funtions
Easy to operate
decent sound quality, actually supprised me!

Cons:
screen even on its lowest setting still lights up my room to the point where I cant sleep, but I just block it with my wallet and its fine.

When you put your ipod in its a little wobbly.

You cant adjust the time manually, it just sets to a time zone, didnt match up with my cell, and thats a little annoying even though its only a few minutes.
