Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony ICF-C218 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio (Black)Customer Review: Best Clock Radio I own Summary: 5 Stars
I listen to the radio a lot, and I love clock radios. This is my favorite one. It is also one of the cheapest I've purchased. It sets time automatically, so you do not have to worry about DST changeovers, resetting after power failures or making sure it's accurate. The radio reception is decent, and even picks up fairly weak signals.
It's not perfect though. The speaker is small, and although great for listening to news in the morning, might not be adequate for enjoying music. The radio sometimes picks up interference from other adjacent stations which can be annoying. However, most cheap analog radios have this problem. My other $30 Sony radio is a bit better at distinguishing between stations though. Still, you cannot go wrong for $11 and free shipping.
Customer Review: Great product, great price Summary: 5 Stars
This is just about as basic as you can get. A great clock at a great price. I've had many different clocks in my life, but here's why this clock was above the rest.
1. Easy ON/OFF buttons. If you want to quickly check the volume of the radio before setting the alarm, it is very easy
2. Fantastic alarm setting "toggle switch". So many clocks make it long and tedious to set the alarm. You just toggle the lever left or right, and the alarm is set in seconds. VERY helpful.
3. Great reception - The FM radio uses the power cord as an antennae.
4. Internal battery - Power outages won't mess you up in the morning.
There are other good reasons to list, but these were the best things I've seen. One of the best $10 I've spent.
Customer Review: Great for the money Summary: 5 Stars
I read the reviews and decided to try this clock radio. I have very bad reception in the bedroom, and getting a radio to tune in and stay tuned has been impossible (I've tried about 3 or 4 different clock radios). This one actually tunes in the station I want, and doesn't stray or pick up other stations at the same time. The station does fade a bit from time to time, but it's an AM station so I think that's kind of normal. It did self-set, but I think it seems about one minute slow. For one minute and the price, I can live with it. I would recommend it. The display is not too bright at night, but is clear in daylight. The alarm is loud enough but not too loud, the radio alarm works perfectly and the sound is not bad for such a small radio.
Customer Review: No frills alarm clock Summary: 5 Stars
My Sony Dream Machine alarm clock was dying...sometimes the alarm went off, sometimes not. I purchased this clock and am very happy with it. Despite the compact size, the display is large enough for me to see without my glasses, which is a first.
Programming this was easy. It did set its own time immediately (I'm in Los Angeles County) The feature I like most is the snooze button. Each time you push the snooze button you add ten minutes. (3 quick pushes = a half hour.) Cool.
Radio sounds good, actually better than my old Dream Machine which depended on a loose wire for an antenna.
If you don't need lots of additional features, this is a great little alarm clock. It exceeded my expectations.
Customer Review: Quick and easy with good ergonomics Summary: 5 Stars
I plugged it in and it knew the time. It has an installed lithium battery so a power drop won't cause it to flash 12:00 at you. You will have to adjust a single setting if you are not on East Coast time. Setting the alarm is as easy as toggling left or right to increase or decrease the time. It is very quick and zooms through until you let off. It is very intuitively designed and fast to change the alarm time.
I purchased this for eleven bucks delivered through Amazon Prime. This is an incredible bargain for a very well thought out alarm clock. If you want practical, this is it. If you are looking for a dazzling home audio experience at 6:00 in the morning, you need to keep looking.
