Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony ICF-C218 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio (Black)Customer Review: Classic clock just like the one pa had Summary: 5 Stars
So the problem with newer clocks is they are too small, or too fancy, too colorful, or have fifty bells and whistles if you can just figure out one of a hundred combos with three buttons.
I just want a functional clock/radio like they used to make that's easy to use. This has a seperate buttons for radio on/radio off, and a separate wheel for the station frequency, and another for volume. And separate buttons for snooze, or alarm on/off. Everything makes sense, so its easy to use and you can see what time it is in the middle of the night.
That's why I dig this clock and got two of them. Because they are just that functional.
Customer Review: Perfect Little Radio Summary: 5 Stars
The sound on this radio is not great, but who cares. Everything else it does is great and all I want it to do is wake me up. Way down at the end of the store aisle, after all the very fancy, expensive radios, was this little Sony for $12. A little apprehensive at the low price, I figured that since it offered the basics, the price was right. The best news is that, although I almost didn't see it, simple radios are still available at a decent price. I don't need a dual alarm or a CD player and I don't need to silence the alarm simply by a wave of the hand. A basic radio with very easy-to-understand functions gets my vote. Thanks, Sony!
Customer Review: basic clock radio that sets itself! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a standard clock radio with the main benefit (for me anyway) being that it sets itself. This has saved me on more than a few occations, during time changes, power outages, etc. It's a nice benefit to have.
The sound quality of the radio is as good as any you'll find. Not a hi-fi with major bass or anything, but good enough to wake up to, if that's how you like to wake up. Personally, that works better for me as I find the "alarm" option a bit harsh.
For all that it does, I think this is a great buy. The last Sony I had lasted for almost 20 years and I expect this one will do something similar.
Customer Review: What would you expect from a SONY?! Summary: 5 Stars
Beautiful, functional, very good reception, and easy to adjust alarm quickly. On top of that it is quite cheap!
I want to warn you though that the automatic time feature is only a preset time by the manufacturer and not like an atomic clock. But who cares about the 1 millionth of a second when it comes to an alarm clock?! I'd be happy to wake up after the third snooze!
The other caveat is the alarm sound. If you usually sleep deeply, you may not wake up to it. However, I usually set it to radio instead and the sound is as high as you want it to be.
Overall, it is a wonderful product. I definitely recommend it.
Customer Review: Great clock radio - so great bought a second one! Summary: 5 Stars
PROS;
Battery backup.
Time is set at factory and set correctly, just change to your local time zone and it's running.
Automatically changes time to follow daylight saving time. Cool! One less clock to change twice a year!
Alarm is very easy to set and change daily if necessary.
Easy to read in the dark, yet not too bright, just right.
Good sized buttons for the snooze and off functions.
Small footprint fits nicely on nightstands.
So good I bought a second one for the other side to the bed.
Recommend to anyone at this price point.
CONS:
None.
