Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony ICF-C218 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio (White)

Customer Review: Nice, but didn't work out for us.
Summary: 3 Stars

I wanted to like this more, but my wife hated it. The alarm was not loud enough for her, and this morning she managed to hit snooze for 40 minutes at one go.

Customer Review: Don't Expect Much
Summary: 3 Stars

The alarm switch is very tiny and the radio is very directional. For the price it serves its purpose. Let's hope it lasts for more than a year.

Customer Review: NO REAL BATTERY BACKUP!
Summary: 2 Stars

I was excited to find this clock for my husband. I liked the fact that it had a backup battery because my husband hates waking up and not knowing what time it is, and the automatic time set was just a bonus. What they don't tell you is that the battery backup doesn't support the display in the event of a power outage negating my number one reason for getting it.
I called Sony once after a power outage and told them what was happening, and they told me it should work and sent me a new battery to try. When that one didn't work and I called back, they told me that the battery only keeps the time while the power is out so that it comes back on accurately once the power comes back on, but it doesn't support the display while the power is out. I hope my battery backup on my fire alarm doesn't work this way. It would be a shame to be notified of a fire two hours too late! I guess the problem here is with marketing. They shouldn't call it a battery backup if it doesn't back up the primary thing it's supposed to do!
Okay, so I have no idea how the alarm or radio works, so I can't comment on that because he doesn't use them. Other than not having to set the clock when you plug it in, it was a disappointment.
Sony didn't seem to think that there was a problem and that I should know that the voltage of the battery wouldn't support the needs of the display...so needless to say, I'll be thinking twice before purchasing any more electronics from them.

Customer Review: Sony ICF-C218 Mediocre Product
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this product based on Sony's alleged reputation for good design and quality performance. Unfortunately, it falls short in both respects. First, the buttons are confusing, and too small for a sleepy person to locate quickly when waking from a sound sleep. Second, the sound quality and FM reception are surprisingly poor in this urban environment (where I use it) with strong, nearby stations. Careful locating of the AC cord helps somewhat, but not enough. A Timex T256 would be a good alternative. I'll donate this clock radio to the next rummage sale.

Customer Review: Unfortunately
Summary: 2 Stars

Unfortunately it doesn't work with 220 volt. In my city we haven't 110 volt. I was don't know and I plug it in 220 volt and its burnt out.

Sorry about my bad English
