Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (White)

Customer Review: Best Alarm Clock OF ALL TIME
Summary: 5 Stars

I pretty much have to quote K. Evan's review because it described my experience with this alarm clock perfectly.

At the time of purchase it was $14.00 with free shipping from Amazon.

Very easy to use, simply plug it in and the time and date are already set, you only have to select your time zone (also very easy) and you're done. The clock also automatically resets itself for Daylight Savings Time so no need to worry about learning how to set the time (though in the rare case you do have to that is also simple enough).

As promised, this clock comes with a built-in battery that keeps track of the time so when a power outage occurs the clock maintains time accurately. I've had other alarm clocks with this same feature, but this is the first that I had one that actually would sound the alarm during a power outage. An alarm clock guaranteed to always wake you up on time.

The screen is bright and large so it is easy to see from a distance and it also comes with two different alarms (and A and B) so you can set two individual time settings for either multiple people or if you want to set up a back up (for in case you miss the first alarm) which is good for those who's bodies have a tendency to turn off alarms without waking up.

Inexpensive and a must buy.

Customer Review: Everything an alarm clock should be
Summary: 5 Stars

Every once in awhile I get my hands on a product that's designed so well, so intuitively, it makes me wonder why all appliances can't be this good. I'd pay good money to have more gadgets work as well as the Sony alarm clock. I never needed the manual; that should be the biggest compliment to this little clock. It's compact, without being ridiculously small. It lets me listen to NPR while I brush my teeth, and the alarms have never once failed me, even in the midst of power outages. The display is easy to read in the middle of the night, even without my glasses, but it doesn't blaze a digital intrusion into our dark bedroom, plus the alarm buzzer is a light chirp - definitely enough to wake you up, but not so offensive that I want to hurl the clock across the room as with some other brands I've tried. I'm especially fond of the single dial on each side to set the respective alarms. No more pressing a single button a million times to click through hours and minutes. Just a easy to adjust dial that cycles quickly through 24 hours until you reach whatever time you need.

What more is there to say? I gladly purchased a second for our bedroom. Good job, Sony.

Customer Review: I like it.
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm pretty pleased with this product. The time that it was set at when I got it was about 5 minutes slow according to my cell phone. I just made the adjustments according to the manual. I tested it out (by unplugging and plugging back in) to make sure that if there were a power outage or something that the time would go back to MY set time and not the factory-set time, and it did. The buzzer is sort of quiet, as others have said, but it woke me up. I guess you don't really need to be blasted awake, which is nice - especially for roommates. There are two settings for buzzer volume as well, so make sure that you do not have the volume on low. If the buzzer was on low I really don't know if it would wake me up. I like that you can change the brightness of the display as well because a bright light can be distracting when trying to fall asleep. Basically, I'm pretty pleased with all of the other features too: the dual alarm function, the radio snooze, date, etc. The thing does what it said it would. And if the buzzer is still too quiet for you, you can still set the alarm to sound with the radio and turn the volume up as loud as you think you'd need it.

Customer Review: Best Alarm Clock we Ever Owned - Called a Dream Machine and it really is!
Summary: 5 Stars

When our old alarm went out I had to find a new alarm quickly. When I found the Sony ICF-C318, I was just happy to discover it had no external antennae to deal with. What a bonus to find that not only was it small and inexpensive, but had no funky extra wires. It has two alarms & the time and date are automatically set! All I did is plug it in. The date was automatically correct. And if there's a power surge or power outage, it has a battery back-up (battery is included and already installed) and it loses no time. We didn't believe that, of course, and had to play with it by unplugging it a few times to test it, but it worked great! We didn't even have to re-set the time zone. Also, I usually had to re-set the alarm for my husband, but no longer. I set the A alarm for me and the B alarm for him and we are done. What I also found wonderful about this alarm was that when you set the alarm time, you can go backward or forward. Our old alarm could only go forward and it took forever; setting this alarm is a breeze. Amazing, truly.

Customer Review: Very Good Alarm Clock/Radio
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased 3 of these (2 black, 1 white), and they work great. You can set the dual alarms to either radio or buzz. I've tried both, & it woke me & my other family members up, no problem. The radio plays just fine - on alarm setting, you can make it as loud as you want. The buzzer just has a hi/lo setting. We all get very good reception with the radio - I did read in the instructions that the electrical cord also serves as the antennae. So for those having problems with reception, make sure the cord is unraveled all the way. The numbers are nice & large, & there are 3 settings for brightness. I wish the buttons on top were bigger or more distinct - especially the one for turning off the alarm after waking you up. A couple of reviewers said it was really big, but it isn't - it's normal size. They have the clocks at Best Buy & Target for a higher price, but go there to see it for yourself. Also, one of the clock's batteries was dead.
Overall, I'd recommend the clock, it works just fine.
