Pros:
*Has a button cell battery to keep the time in the event of a power outage. Also, the manual says that this battery can also power the alarm when the power is cut.
*Adjusts for Daylight Savings time.
*Adjustable brightness display (High/Medium/Low).
*Adjustable (High/Low) alarm volume (although I don't notice a significant difference between the two.)
*Very easy to set alarm time - two dedicated nobbs on the sides adjust the alarms directly.
Other notes:
The alarm starts off slow and then builds up. This isn't the loudest alarm that I've heard, so if you're the type that requires some extra loudness to wake up this may not be the one for you. I prefer the alarm on this because it doesn't jolt me awake.
I really appreciate the adjustable brightness of the display, this was one of the main reasons I bought this model. I use it on the low setting; it may be difficult to see in the day, but it doesn't keep me up at night even though the alarm is right next to my head facing me.

We have had Sony alarm clocks for the last 15 years because they are so reliable. Each time Sony brings out a new version of their alarm clock it's upgraded. This version trumps all of our older Sony clocks. I love all the new features so, I am happy that my old one kicked the bucket. My experience with Sony alarm clocks is that they last for a very long time. Every time I have had to buy a new Sony alarm clock, I noticed they kept getting smaller but this version has the smallest footprint so far. There is a lot of features packed into this one little alarm clock and it works like a charm. Thanks Sony, for making something that doesn't fall apart within a few months like most of the garbage that is manufactured and sold today.
Amazon's price was the lowest that I could find a well. Amazon continues to excell when it comes to pricing, shipping, dependability,helpful reviews, etc. and in this recession, that is so appreciated!

Needing a new radio alarm, I read alot of reviews on Amazon before deciding. The radio alarm that I was replacing was also a Sony Dream Machine, but really old and at the time, kind of expensive. But it had really worked hard for me, so I was glad to replace it with a newer, smaller, smarter version. What was surpising was the great price I bought it for, which was probably half of what I paid for my original version. I really like the dual alarm option, and wouldn't consider anything else. Some reviewers thought the LCD was too bright, but I don't think so at all. And the sound is just what you should expect - this is just a very small radio, not a stereo. I like the way this model is updated with the daylight savings time feature built in, that you have a choice of using or not. Since I'm not a global traveler, I really like this feature. Now, if this radio holds up as long as my original Sony Dream Machine, I will absolutely love it!Customer Review: Excellent Dual Alarm

The features that other reviewers seem to dislike are precisely the features that I love about this alarm clock. It is a dual alarm, which is handy. The intensity of the light display is adjustable but at its highest setting it may be too dim for people who like the blaring LED displays of many clocks. However, if you are a person who enjoys sleeping in a dark room, as I do, this clock is perfect. It's bright enough to easily see the time displayed (even with my glasses off... *heh*), but doesn't produce an undo amount of light. I tried several alarm clocks from the local stores and all of them had displays brighter than a night light and some as bright as a small lamp. The sound of the alarm is not blaring, but it is loud enough to wake most sound sleepers. So if you like your sleeping room dark, and don't need a foghorn to wake you up this is a solid, reasonably priced dual alarm clock. The auto time set feature does work as advertised. I plugged mine in and it said the right time and date. Maybe the reviews that say the auto time set doesn't work are from people who don't live in the eastern time zone. That is the default setting for this clock. The display is nice and big and the brightness levels are just right in my opinion. The bright setting is easy to see in a sunlit room and the dim setting is very dim for those who don't want it too bright while sleeping. The only thing I don't love about this clock is that the display is sort of a pea green color instead of a bright led green. The alarms are very easy to set and change. I used to have to hold down two buttons and watch 24 hrs go by to change the time on my old GE clock. Now all I have to do is twist the dial to go forward or back while setting the alarm. Very nice. This is a great little clock for the money and it does everything it says.
