This product is exactly what it is intended to be. It is not a "grand stereo system", it is a clock radio with convenient features. The cd player works fine, along with the sound. The alarm, lighting, and "extras" (date,etc) are all adequate. So if your looking for a quality clock radio with a few extra features, then this product is more than sufficient. If your looking for a stereo system then go buy a stereo system.
p.s. You can't go wrong with a "SONY".

I was a little concerned about the sound quality and the lighting based on the other reviews. This product has definitely exceeded my expectations for the price. The sound quality and volume are excellent considering its form factor and the light level is fine with options for bright, dim, and off. The radio tuner is very precise and works great with the built-in antenna wire. The built-in mp3 cable works great with Pandora on my Android phone. After a little confusion on how to set the alarms and play the disc( I admit I am techno challenged) this clock radio has worked liked a dream. The display can be quite bright, but you are easily able to adust this if it bothers you. Very easy to shift back and forth between CD and radio functions. You can set buttons for the radio stations you listen to the most. Very easy to move back and forth on discs to find the trac you want to play. I love this little but strong clock/CD/alarm/radio. It is beautiful! It has everything I need on it including the Napping alarm. I can set my alarm to wake up to a specific song on the CD or the radio. The snooze button is big so i can just tap on it when i'm sleeping. The numbers on are easy to read from far away. It is easy to use if you are used to electronics. The sound quality is so good for its compact size. Would I buy it again? YES! What I really like about this CD clock radio is that it is completely digital, e.g., radio tuning, volume. There are several controls on the sides and you have to turn the radio to see what they are until you learn to feel for them. Why didn't they put an earphone jack in? I don't like that the ac power adapter is hard-wired, doesn't plug in like every other product I've seen with an ac power adapter. The sound quality if good. Overall, its a super full featured CD/clock radio.
