Customer Review: Don't be put off by the price. 4 years and going strong!

My wife wanted a clock radio for the shower many years ago. She bought a couple of the cheap ones and they had various problems - bad sound, didn't remember the radio station, clock too small, etc. Then I saw this radio and the rave reviews for it. But the price - sheesh! Well, I decided it was worth it if it lived up to the hype so I took a chance. She got it for Christmas. It was immediately in the shower and we've been using it every day since (that was in 2006).
So, 4 years later and this radio is still chugging along without a hitch! We've changed the batteries twice in 4 years so no rechargeables are necessary. And now that they are older, kids want one for their own shower! I'm trying to justify the cost and, as I look at the other options, it seems there is really no other good option except perhaps the similar Sony with no CD player, but the cost for this is only a bit more!
Compared to the other cheaper radios, by the time you try one or two you've spent half the money for this one anyhow. You might as well put your money on something that is going to last and that you actually ENJOY! Remember, you will likely be using this EVERY DAY! Would you pay less than $0.20 per day for a year for a great radio to use in the shower and get your day started off right?
PROS: 5 memory pre-sets PER BAND (with easy to access waterproofed buttons), big knobs for volume and tuner, variable volume adjust, big rubberized buttons for on/off and band, excellent sound quality, great reception, CD player appears to be well sealed (we rarely use it though), strong rope included to hang from the shower head or a hook, and it's great radio for non-shower use as well!
CONS: Large and heavy, digital display could maybe be a little larger and/or backlit, CD player is on the back and somewhat inconvenient.
The CD player which automatically makes it bigger, plus the 4 C batteries definitely make it heavier, but the trade-offs seem worth it.
WARNING: Be sure to either put this on a ledge or permanent shelf - DO NOT put it in a suction cup shelf/holder - we did this initially and it eventually fell HARD. Alternatively, hang it by the included rope instead from the shower head or from a good hook screwed directly into a wall stud. I suggest something like a coat hook.
