I strongly recommend the Sony ICF-CDK70 Under Cabinet Kitchen Clock Radio with CD-Changer to anyone looking for an under the cabinet radio. My wife had been wanting one of these, so i bought it as a surprise for her birthday. It arrived at my home quickly (within 3-4 days), and was ready to install out of the box. Both her and I have been pleased with every aspect of this product thus far.
Installation of this product is a breeze, even for those of you who are not "Mr. Fix-it" types. The radio comes with a drill hole pattern that aligns with the factory made screw holes on the unit. All you have to do is mark with a pen, drill your holes, and screw with a drill or screwdriver to attach. This unit also comes with spacers that compensate for varying under-cabinet heights.
Some of the reviews I read prior to making my decision said that radio reception was poor on this unit. Those comments concerned me, but did not stop me from purchasing this model. We have had no problems picking up any of our favorite radio stations, and have even discovered a few new ones. Of course, on particularly cloudy days the reception is not as good, but that is something to be expected from any radio.
The sound quality of this unit is amazing. My wife and I have yet to have to turn the unit all the way up, and have had no problem hearing it throughout the house. We live in a two bedroom condominium (kitchen downstairs), and can hear the music clearly while in the upstairs bedrooms. This unit has very little distortion, and sounds great when playing country, pop, and even metal music.
The CD player is also great. This unit plays many scratched CDs that our cars and DVD players will not. Also, the remote has great range. I have found no problem controlling the unit from our dining room table which is approximately 15-20 feet from the cabinet with the unit.
Honestly, I can not think of anything I am disappointed with in regards to the Sony ICF-CDK70 Under Cabinet Kitchen Clock Radio with CD-Changer. If you need entertainment in the kitchen, and don't want to spring for a TV/DVD system, this is definitely the way to go!
