I have had my Sony shower radio for 5 years and it has the best reception of any radio I have ever owned. It has been dropped nearly 20 times and still works great. I primarily use it under my pillow as a night time radio since it will shut off in 30 or 60 minutes automatically. I use it in the shower as well but never put it directly in the spray of water. Light splashes have never affected the performance. It would have been great if it had an alarm and indiglo but it does not. The sound quality is excellent for a portable radio and I would highly recommend this product. The plastic buttons on the top tend to crack after 2 or 3 years but they still work. This is such a great radio though, I actually bought a spare for when this one stops working. Summary: I looked everywhere for a quality shower radio and found the Sony ICFS79V. I have had no problems with this radio and the reception is better than the 2 other shower radios I have had.
While the buttons can be hard to see when the radio is hung high, you become familiar with the buttons and can feel your way around. The ON button is larger than the others and the OFF button is next to it. There are also station PRESET buttons.
Had a radio from Sharper Image which cost more and this one was by far the best combination of size, sound, and quality of construction.
This radio has operated flawlessly.

I have had this radio for almost two years and unfortunately it has recently started acting up (turns off by itself and won't turn back on until you take the batteries out for several hours). It wasn't until I was without it for a few days that I realized how much I love this radio. It makes getting ready in the morning so much more enjoyable because you can listen to your favorite radio stations or the morning TV shows. I have also purchased other shower radios which were impossible to tune into a clear radio station. This one is great because of its digital tuner and preset AM/FM/and TV station buttons. I often take this radio out of the shower and use it to listen to TV shows while I am working outside. When this radio eventually dies for good, I will not hestitate to replace it with another one by Sony.Customer Review: WHOA!!! A DECENT SHOWER RADIO!!!

It works well - has a nice look to it - gets great reception - has an antenna that helps you pull in even BETTER reception - and allows you to have preset stations (5 of them)!! Holy smokes! I'd just about given up on finding a decent shower radio. The last one I had was a JWin brand (ridiculous - complete waste of money....seriously, go buy 9 instant lottery tickets instead) and the one I had before that was, I believe, sold by Avon. Okay, so I'm not very high tech when it comes to gadgets, and I obviously didn't have the highest expectations for my shower radio, but my frustration level with that crazy JWin piece of *&^% finally made me see the error in my ways. I've bought Sony shower radios for 20 years - this is the third (and by far the best) model, and I've had at least one of all three models. The digital tuning is essential - you never have to worry about finding or keeping your station. I love the presets, and listening to 60 Minutes and similar TV shows is great. The solid base means it's less likely to fall over, or off of things. The radio is pretty tough - I've dropped it and had nothing happen, but once the AM antenna broke and that was that for talk radio. And the batteries really do seem to last forever! On the one I have now (five years old), the plastic waterproof top is cracking, and the FM antenna caught on something and pulled loose. So, I'm buying another. Don't EVER stop making this radio, Sony!
