Bought this radio for my mom who is at the point where radios or clock radios with lots of buttons confuse her. This is really a nice radio. The reception in her high rise, all concrete construction apartment is better than I expected -- very clear. Once we set the station with the knob, all she has to do it switch it on, and the on/off switch is by itself so she's not confused with other buttons. This is not as visually pleasing as many radios out there but the reception and sound quality are far superior. The only thing that I would like would be for the antenna to have a 360 degree turning radius. It only goes from side to side but it was not really a big deal. Absolutely amazing sound from a portable radio in this price range. I am in an area of known poor reception, and this radio gets an exceptional signal. Also the sound quality is exceptional. Strong bass reproduction; actually a wonderful surprise for a purchase of this price. I cannot recommend too highly. No bells, no whistles... just excellent reception on all my fav channels (no static interference whatsoever), ease of use and portability. It's as light as a feather, so can be carried around from room to room if I choose with the greatest of ease and comfort. Highly recommended for people with mobility challenges. During this time of very high tech. it is refreshing to see that Sony has produced a simple, easy to use product. This radio is very retro, but gets the job done. The controls are simple and the sound is very good. The size of the package is just right.I like the the dual power option (battery and AC) The price is very low considering the usual Sony quality. My wife likes it so much I may have to buy another one.
