This unit was a dream to install due to the mounting template that was provided. The controls are intuitive and straightforward. I had the thing set up in five minutes because it has an internal battery that had allowed the date and time to be preset at the factory; I just had to select the time zone.
Unlike many of the other reviewers that have posted, I was a bit disappointed with the sound at first; however, I think my expectations were a bit too high. It's a small unit that's great for background music while you're puttering in the kitchen or wherever. If you're looking for something to crank up for your latest Hip Hop tune, you may want to find something a bit more substantive. If space is your issue, I don't think you'll find a better unit.

This little stereo is freaking awesome! the installation was ever-so quick and easy. The sound is crystal clear. Personally, the MEGABASS feature isn't so impressive, but, the sound is excellent never-the-less. The built-in audio jack is a great feature. the CD player is smooth and reads discs quickly, but, i do wish that it was able to read MP3 CD's, but, it's not a huge deal since you can plug any MP3 player in with ease and be listening as quickly as you can push the "Audio Input" button. I get some of the higher-power FM stations where i live, but, the reception isn't spectacular.
Overall, if you've got a large CD collection, or an MP3 player, need more counter space, or just want it, I recommend this radio completely!

Just got this for our kitchen. Other reviews indicated people are having problems picking up radio stations. I am not having that issue. All the stations we listen to are coming in strong and clear. Sound quality is sony-esque (excellent). Remote works great throughout the kitchen and surrounding area. Have not needed to change the battery so no good or bad rating on it. Installation was very tough only because the underside of my cabinets are recessed ~3 inches, requiring me to build up a base with plywood to mount to. Installation would have been easy if the recessed area under my cabinet was less than ~1.5 inches or so (Don't quote me on it). I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT A CHEAPER UNDER THE CABINET CD/RADIO AT HALF THE PRICE OF THE SONY. IT'S SOUND QUALITY WAS AT BEST FAIR ,BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT IT DID NOT PLAY ALL OF MY SELF MADE AUDIO CDS .
I WAS READING THE SPECS OF THE SONY AND IT SPECIFICALLY STATED IT PLAYED SELF MADE CDS .I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH SELF MADE AUDIO CDS . WHAT A LEARNING CURVE FOR ME AFTER YEARS OF MAKING MY OWN AUDIO CDS .I RETURNED THE CHEAP RADIO AND GOT THE SONY
WELL THE SONY DID EVERYTHING THE SPECS SAID IT WOULD !!!
THE AUDIO QUALITY IS EXCELLENT AND IT PLAYS ALL OF MY SELF MADE CDS .IT WAS WELL WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY !!!IT IS A GREAT RADIO.THANKS AMAZON .

This Sony cd player clock radio is exactly what I was looking for. I especially like the Ipod hook up. Now I can play my choice of music when I don't like whats playing on the radio. It fit perfectly under the cabinet and I did the installation myself. The template that came with to drill the holes were perfect and it only took a few minutes. The radio reception is great. Just follow the instructions on placement, (not near the microwave ) I walked around my kitchen while it was on to find the best reception placement. I like that it is small and doesn't hang to low under the cabinet. There is still lots of room to put things on the countertop. Great find, Great buy.
