Customer Review: Best Shower Radio Ever

This radio exceeded my expectations as soon as I programmed my favorite FM and AM stations and placed the radio in the shower. After re-positioning the short antenna wire with its suction cup, all but one distant station came in great. This has always been my problem with other shower radios. Having a digital tuner and buttons for exact and easy station selection is just fantastic. The volume is also easy to adjust and more than adequate as it uses "C" cell batteries instead of the usual "AA" cells in most radios. The radio is placed on a cut-out area in my tiled wall in the shower so it's easy to use and see the digital display. I've always been a Sony fan with TV's etc.. and I'm not surprised that their quality is well done here. Enjoy!Customer Review: I bought two!

I saw the 5 star rating on Amazon and thought "really?" So I bought one for my shower and I loved it. Easy digital tuning and 5 AM presets and 10 FM presets. Then I bought a second one for my office. Amazon warned me I had already bought one, but I soldiered through their thoughtful warnings. My office is in the vicinity of a very weak but entertaining local university station that now comes through like a champ. My office is also a radio frequency nightmare due to the 1950's wire wall plaster. (H-Bomb proof, but hard on AM reception) This radio comes with a foot long wire antennae and a small suction cup that I plastered to my office window. In my opinion the Sony ICFS79W is the post-nuclear dream radio of the year!Customer Review: Best portable radio ever

I love this radio! We own 2, and I'm about to buy 2 more - one more for our home and one for a gift. I keep one with my gardening tools and carry it around with me and listen while gardening. The others travel between the bathrooms and bedrooms. Good sound quality, takes dirt and water abuse, and the preset buttons are great for a portable radio. No playing around trying to tune in favorite stations. The batteries seem to last forever (I don't even know what kind they take, since I've never changed them and we've had our 2 units for years). So the time is always right, even with the occasional power outs we have in our area, which messes up all the plug in radio times. Great, old fashioned little radio ideal to use in the bathroom or on the beach. Amazingly enough, these kind of radios are hard to find nowadays in this all too modern world, but hey, I still need a source to listen to the Mets in the summer at the beach and Little Steven's Underground Garage on Sunday nights while I shave. The sound is great, and it is easy and fast to go from station to station. I'm very happy right now.
I've seen on here that it is water proof, but I've yet to put it in the shower allowing it to get doused in water, but I HAVE touched the radio with wet hands and it STILL works, so at the very least, I know it is SOMEWHAT water proof. So I am STILL very happy.

For a relatively inexpensive shower radio this one is really great. My teenage daughter uses it every day. I use it if I use her shower. I've even been accused of swiping it and taking it to my shower on occasion. It has two sets of station presets, plenty for both of us. And, if you set it, it has an automatic shutoff that saves the battery. The unit is located on a wire under shower storage unit. We have had no problems and no corrosion. The technical details clearly state it is splash resistant. I suspect any corrosion problems other users have had relate to locating the unit directly in the water spray. We have no complaints what ever with ours.
