The sony ICFS79W shower radio is a water resistant radio perfect for the bathroom or outdoor activities. Although compact it packs a clean big sound that lives up to the sony name. It is solidly built with a rubberized top and silicone feet for antislip on wet surfaces. With plenty of am and fm presets and a sleep function it can be used anywhere but is designed for years of faithful sevice in the confines of your bathroom. The weather function works great for that quick update during that early morning shower. It takes 4 C batteries which will last for hundreds of showers. Although not the cheapest, it will certainly outlast all others.Customer Review: Love my Sony

I love my Sony radio. This is the second one I've purchased because my original Sony was lost in a recent housefire. I listened to it daily for 12 years. The battery life is incredible. I love being able to carry it with me to another part of the house if I'm caught up in a news article or Garrison Keeler's Prairie Home Companion. I don't have to miss a word! I use it all over the house, bathroom, kitchen, office and patio for morning coffee and news. The weather band is an added bonus. I never used it in the shower, although it is very waterproof and made for such use. Great little radio with a big sound. I have used a water resistant radio from Sharper Image, but both the radio and the company have gone out of business.
This Sony has clear controls using a waterproof membrane type surface. It picks up distant stations clearly. (I like to listen the the Junkies and the Mike O'Meara Show on WJFK when I shower, nude and wet.) The sound is good for talk radio, fair for music, but shower quality music is a bit of an oxymoron.
I was able to put in the batteries, turn it on, and program my favorite stations all without needing to consult the instruction booklet. Simple operation, this shower radio is a winner!

Although expensive, I went with this radio because of all the positive reviews. It turned out to be a good choice. My wife and I both listen to it when in the shower - usually am news in the morning. Great AM/FM reception, and we don't even use the antenna. Other shower radios I've used haven't tuned as well, and I've been through several cheap options. The presets and auto off are my favorite features (you can set it to turn off in 60, 45, 30, 15 10 minutes). Six months later and still going strong on the same set of batteries (10-20 minutes a day). Seems to be built well so I hope it lasts several years.

...this has got to be not just the best radio I've ever bought, but one of the best products I've ever bought. I don't know if I've ever written a review on Amazon, but this little guy's performance, construction, reliability, ease of use, and convenience basically constrained me to say something about it. I travel quite a bit in my job, and have gotten to the point where I pack this in my suitcase or overnight bag because it's so great to have with me in hotels (whose clock-radios are notoriously unreliable). The top reviewers cover everything that I would say, so I won't repeat it - just wanted to add my own 5-star vote.
