I purchased this years ago for my mother and she loves it and five years later, I got her a replacement. I love the option for checking the weather and you can also tune into your local TV stations and listen to your favorite programs. This is a great item that Sony made and I hope they never stop making it. Well worth the price and believe me this is an excellent gift. When a bad storm hit and knocked out the power, my mother was able to use this radio to check the weather and hear the local news. After researching this very heavily, this is probably the best shower clock radio on the market! The batteries (3 C's) have lasted for over a year now. So don't worry about battery life. The digital tuner in this radio is the must have feature that is very rarely found in shower radios. Loud enough that you don't really have to have it in the shower with you...you can just leave it on the sink counter. Much better sound than most of the other cheap ones. It's isn't all that easy to read the LCD, but it's good enough.Customer Review: Sony Shower Radio is much better than my old radio

I like the way the radio works, as well as the way it can either sit on a shelf or hang in my shower. The controls are on top, which might normally make them harder to see while the radio was hanging up, but it hangs low enough in my shower to make them easy to use - even for my 8-year-old son. It was easy to program, and the digital readout is useful. My only complaint is that the weather channel that comes up when the "weather" button is pushed is very quiet, even though the station is only 10 miles from my house.Customer Review: Works great in bathroom!

I have gotten several radios for the bathroom. NONE HAVE WORKED AS WELL AS THIS ONE! This is a small radio with a big sound. The reception is great! I found the best price on Amazon for this radio. We took it with us on vacation and down to the beach with us. It worked great! I recomend this product. It is worth the money, I only wish that it came with an adptor so we could plug it in. the sony icfs79 shower radio has very good AM reception which is what i use it for. if you want to use the weather band you will most likely need to use the antenna wire which connects to the shower wall with a suction cup. it has good volume and large display numbers. FM is good too and you will need the antenna for this too. it does what it is supposed to do. it operates on 3 C batteries and does not plug into a wall outlet...for obvious reasons. all in all i like it very much.
