Customer Review: No compromises

In the past I've owned various headphones for various situations. These headphones I tend to use in all situations (although I still do use other headphones just because I have them :)
1. Jogging: The clips (in various sizes) work well. Occasionally the tips unseal a little, but cleaning them on my shirt fixes that easily. The cord breaks in half making it the perfect length for an arm-strapped player. As you jog, the tug on the cord is handled by the clips, so slippage is minimal. Lastly, the clips eliminate 'code noise'.
2. Commute: Whether walking or on transit, they keep out a decent amount of noise without isolating you from important horn honks. You won't hear train announcements, but that's fine by me. Again, the cord noise is kept minimal, especially when using the clips. (clips are removable)
3. Desk work: Sitting down is when I care most about sound quality (quiet around me, so I can hear the difference). These aren't equivalent to my Etymotics, but they are perfectly acceptable. In fact, most days that I listen to music at my desk, I use these.
4. On a plane: In-ear headphones drive some people nuts on a plane but these work for me. On a short flight where I don't want to fuss around much, I wear these. They isolate enough of the noise that I can watch the TV or sleep with music. I do still get out the big sound-canceling phones for longer flights, but before I had those, I've used these for a long flight with relative comfort and enjoyment.
Quality:
1. In my pocket: I've been wrapping the cord in my hand and stuffing them in my pocket for over a year and although they've lost a little paint, they aren't showing any signs of damage.
2. Cord: Again, a year later, I'm still using them with no crackling and no cord wear or fraying. I recently purchased another pair of these when I thought I lost them. Turns out I didn't lose them so now I have a spare for the sad day when they do finally give up the ghost.
3. Sound: As in the other notes, I think these are great. No one should expect top-tier quality here. If you think you're a discerning audiophile, then the only reason you'd read this review is because you want something cheap that sound reasonable. The only way to get the best sound is to pay the premium (think 3 dollar signs, not 2!). That said, for this price, these are fantastic and it's a wonderful compromise. I don't want to wear my expensive headphones everywhere because I want them to last. So I use these and I'm very happy. So how does it really sound? Muddy and over-amped low end. Reasonable mid-levels that aren't quite clean. Decent high end with noticeable out-of-range issues once in a while. It's what you should expect for anything under $$$.
